Two month old baby to Maldives….. hmmm…. ??

      YOLO

      • +35

You go to Maldives to make them and not take them.

        • Adding onto that wondrous point: to breed them, not feed them.

        • ahahahahah good one =p

    • so i was thinking that too, well for the dates i would have a 6 month old baby but yeah you won't have much fun i think

we went to maldives for our honeymoon which was awesome (without a baby) coz you can drink all you want, sleep all you want, eat all you want, snorkel all you want with the missus and don't have any responsibilities…. with a baby you'll have to work around the baby schedule in terms of eating etc and having a newborn baby for a week, oh man i wouldn't know how to do it

For your relaxation and your neighbours (the villas are very close together and lack sound proofing), don't bring infants.

    no scoot from sydney?

Just checked some hotel prices, some of the 5 star hotels cost up to $50,000 for 2 adults for 7 nights!! Lucky the flights are cheap!

    • +2

Dang! There goes the house deposit…

    • +1

Why you stay at 5 star hotel. Stay with the local and enjoy the local experience.

      • what stay at male?? if so why lol

        • Why wouldn’t you? You got something against saying with male?

          • +2

@michaelTito: i don't but you go to maldives to check out the islands and have that experience.

no offense but i wouldn't go all the way to maldives to check out male
i'm sure its a nice place but people go there for the island experience in general

            • +1

@prankster: You can easily stay on a public island and then do day trips to resorts to "check out the islands". Stay trip with drinks and food include are only like $100-200AU per day per people, including transfers.

            • @prankster: Why would I be offended?

    • you must be checking the 6+ star hotels LOL
you can find some good deals with luxury escapes, i went there for honeymoon did the whole villa ocean upgrade for 7 nights, all food & drinks included and it was 6.3k Yes its expensive but it could've been more expensive!

of course theres lots of different hotels so do you research, sadly its the ones with ocean villa thats the expensive ones which you'd have to do, no point in going all the way to maldives just to have a beach front villa, you have to have the one in the ocean!!!

  • check out some of the dates mentioned by OP but shame they don't have shorter dates - perhaps if you adjust the search it might thought :)

we went to maldives for a honeymoon and did 7 nights but we though 5 nights would've been enough
anyway for those wanting to find a place, just did a quick search on luxury escapes

    https://luxuryescapes.com/au/destinations/maldives

of course do your research depending on which hotel you want to stay but do search deals first as i found going direct to the hotel can still be pretty expensive :(

For those of your with young children or considering becoming pregnant while in the Maldives just be aware it is a Zika risk country. Do your own research but make your decision carefully.

And you do not need to spend close to 50k. We've been three times and generally spent less than 14k for two weeks (on the last trip a lot less). Not cheap sure but for the overwater villa and all food and beverages it is not quite as cost prohibitive as people assume.

More budge orientated resorts include Vilamendhoo, Bandos, Meeru, Vakarufalhi, Angaga, Eriyadu and OBLU at Helengeli. There are quite a few others. For a real budget experience the local islands are becoming increasingly popular but I've not been.

  • Might worth checking out lily beach resort, was nothing short of fantastic!
