Just for anyone else who's thinking about getting one, this laptop has one of the worst keyboards i've ever tried to type on.
Not such a big deal for games and media. But if you plan to do any work on it… it's gonna suck.
Dell XPS has a great keyboard
Should have got a Lenovo ThinkPad :) My ThinkPad is pretty ordinary in almost everything (and ugly in some perspective), except a great keyboard + trackpoint/trackpad.
Do they still have the Fn key where Ctrl usually is on other keyboards? Not being able to use ThinkPad keyboards exclusively to make it possible to adjust, I could never get used to that and would hit Fn-<Key> when I meant to do a Ctrl-<Key> with frustrating regularity.
They did this on my sisters Asus series F5 laptop. so annoying!
I was a Dell user for the last 10 years and only moved to Lenovo in Feb this year. Yes the location of Ctrl/Fn was annoying at the beginning but I am getting used to it. Now I press the wrong key when I use my wife's Inspiron :)
If it annoys you, it is possible to remap the Fn and Ctrl keys so they are reversed.
what makes the keyboard awful?
no 'feeling', loose keys that don't work unless you really hit them.
i think it's also a tad small which i'll eventually adjust to… but for now, feels cramped.
seriously, i don't know how people can use laptops for any serious work in the first place. long live desktops :)
just plug a keyboard+mouse into your laptop, problem solved.
How are you going to do that if you're working on the train or bus?
not everyone has the luxury of only having to work in an office, at a desk with a nice big screen.
its for work on the move so you make good with what you've got. =)
