  • This is quite a good deal - much better pricing than many local Australian papers, and a good range of current content. Already have this from a previous deal but good post OP.

If you like your news with a liberal slant, this is the paper for you.

Just clear your browser cache every now and then and you can read all the Trump hating for free.

      Trump, the Chosen One.

      @SamR, the Volunteer.

    • -5

I don't think SamR's comment needs to be down-voted. The NYT are proud of their position on Trump's illegitimacy. This is essentially a self-confessed position, with an agreed upon theme to back all its articles about his administration; first it was Russia, now racism (c.f. https://www.rt.com/op-ed/466685-nytimes-trump-racist-transcr… et al.).

From a National Review article today (https://www.nationalreview.com/corner/new-york-times-errors-…): "On Wednesday, [the NYT] published a piece by James Poniewozik, who is inconsolable over the fact that Donald Trump’s former press secretary is to appear on “Dancing with the Stars.” He offers a mock confession: “It isn’t cool to get mad about things like this. It’s so strident. It’s so earnest. If you high-mindedly wrestle with a goofy sideshow like ‘Dancing With the Stars,’ you just get glitter all over you, and the show gets ratings.” But the problem with Poniewozik’s sentiment is not that it is strident or earnest, still less that it is high-minded — it is that it is petty and vindictive. It is in the spirit of Joaquin Castro, who wishes to ruin the businesses and families of San Antonio residents — his constituents — for the sin of having made donations to the presidential candidate of the other party."

Having to sift through articles characterised as 'petty and vindictive' (via 'Trump Derangement Syndrome') is somewhat entertaining. However, by almost entirely omitting the third of the population that are conservative from appearing in its pages, any suggestion that it is a serious source of unbiased news is a bit hard to believe.

Why are you using a Russian state news outlet as a source??

It's funny how the Left always bang on about the supposed bias Murdoch press, but when it's apparent bias against the Right, they loose their shit.

Can always count on the Left for hypocrisy.

      • +2

The Murdoch press is biased - they're basically the political influence arm of the Evil Murdoch Empire in Australia - if you can't see that you need help.

And when it comes to people 'losing their shit', there's no better example than Murdoch "journo's" frothing at the mouth.

BTW it's 'lose', not 'loose' like your "logic".
Your grammar i will leave for another day.

        Oh, you're from QLD.
Skip all that as i'm not into lost causes.

HAHAHA oh man, yes that was horrible of me. Fixing it right now, thanks! It's been a long day, I swear..

  • Is this AUD1?

    • Naa usd. OP should update

      • Nope. AUD unless you went to the NYT US web-site via a VPN and IP address in the USA.

I could also be wrong as I can't verify this deal as I am on a current subscription deal of AUD4.00/month and would not be able to see any current special offers. An email to them should clarify the price and currency.

        Ciao for now :)

    • +3

Yes, it should be AUD - all the prices are listed as A$ and the deal is for Australia only.

    • Yes. AUD1.00 - Bloody good deal imho. I am on a deal from last year of AUD4.00/month that was initially for 6 months and I am still paying that a year later via PayPal.

Australian content quiet good too. :)

  • Showing USD for me

  • I got offered a $2 for 4 week subscription as a student.

  • When I had a free subscription there were many and frequent deals on offer all the time as they try to build up their Australian subscriber base. Mine is currently AUD4.00/month… good value at a buck/week.

    Ciao :)

  • Sign up as a student for AUD2/month instead. That's a bargain.

  • In Asia, $2/mth gets you All Access with two bonus subscriptions.

    • What country are you seeing if for $2/month?
Every one i've tried in Asia is showing $2/week (USD) for the all access plus (with the 2 bonus subs). Or $1/week for all access (with 1 bonus sub)

  • +1

    fake news on sale

  • I've just reloaded their site from a range of regions on my VPN.

It looks like it's your best bang for your buck is ₹49.00/week in India (about $1.01 aud) for the All access instead of the basic (which includes the crosswords and cooking sites plus a bonus sub to give away).

Also, a number of libraries offer free access (usually basic excluding crosswords and cooking) with either 1 or 3 day passes you can keep renewing, if you do a bit of googling you should be able to track down a library that offers access (without logging into that library!)

  • thanks, trialling all access. the daily & still processing are by far the best podcasts so it makes sense i support :D
