    $2050 (RRP: $2999)

Why not compare to your normal price ?

    Definitely not 30% off…

      Thanks JV

Our previous price of $2499 only applied to a specific groupset ratio. The only cranksets available at that price were 52/36T in either 172.5 or 175mm.

We have since received new stock and have opened up the deal for other ratios as well including 50/34T in both 170 and 172.5mm. Additionally other ratios are also available but have not been uploaded onto the website.

      Hope this explains it.

      No pedals?

      • Lol, straight over the heads of four sad sacks.

    • No wheels? Come on JV, you slipping..

        No kickstand ?

A discount is not a bargain, and Dura Ace is never a bargain.
This is the same as the normal price atr CRC/Wiggle - except for the Shimano price-fixing stopping them selling here.

Ultegra, 105 or their competitors are much cheaper and do exactly the same job.
For that matter Claris is almost as good :-)

        • +3

Claris is 8 speed definitely not as good but yeah Dura Ace is never a bargain .

        • +1

"A discount is not a bargain" - can you explain your reasoning here?

          • @SHilton: Like to hear it myself.

          • +1

@SHilton: I thought it was self evident.
If something is very poor value, discounting just makes it a bit less overpriced.

Ultegra, 105 or their competitors are much cheaper and do exactly the same job.

Oh, seems I already explained, very clearly. This is a commodity, with lots of alternatives that are almost identical, even from the same company. This is not a radical opinion in cycling circles, but there are always those who will pay anything to save 20g. That's fine, but not compatible with the ozbargain ethos of value-for-money :-)

            Claris is 8 speed

Yes, note smiley. But a 5-speed was good enough for Eddie Merckx :-) Claris,Sora,Tiagra,105,Ultegra,DuraAce - it is all very small increments.
Unless you get the Di2 electronic shifters. Those are cool.

            • +1

@bargaino: Who judges whether it is "poor value" to begin with? If that was the case then they'd be hard-pressed selling the product, esp with the competition and range of alternatives available. Clearly there is a market for this groupset. Your comment that they all do the same job is,er, fatuous. Ergo all bikes are the same, all cars the same……. Top of the line (for many products, not just bikes) is almost always specialist and rarely where "value" for the hoi poloi sits. Let us know when you find a top quality bike with low class groupsets and components.

              • @[Deactivated]: Get some perspective. The quality road-bike market, including 105 and Dura Ace is very a tiny corner of the bike market.

The practical difference between Dura Ace and Ultegra is little to none, while the cost difference is huge.
Prestige is another matter, like for ladies' perfume or wine.

Ergo all bikes are the same,

Ergo, you can't do better than a strawman argument?

                • @bargaino: Nothing straw man about my comment, unless you don't understand the meaning of the term. It's a logical extension of your throw away comment. Is Grange Hermitage value over wines only slightly inferior? Is a significant discount on a $20K bike not value? What are the sale figs for Dura Ace? Your argument has no foundation. As I've already said - top of line, specialist.

            • @bargaino: cough Campagnolo 12 speed

    • sounds like they're trying to blind you with stats/science/numbers, jv.

      Me, I don't buy it. $500 difference between a 172 and 170?

  • +1

This is a bargain to some rich folk

    • Upgraded bike - check.
      Car - check
      roofracks - check

  • +3

yeah nah pushys is cheaper atm with their 15% off code

    https://www.pushys.com.au/shimano-dura-ace-r9100-road-groups…

free shipping but doesn't include bottom bracket. just buy one individually and it's still around $150 saving overall (and that's before the shipping)

Why pedal when $2000 can buy you a nice electric bicycle. Being fat is a luxury.

    • +1

Feel free to post some suggestions, been looking and it's a absolute minefield out there.

new gear box, bigger brakes, fully sick…

  • Not really a deal when it's old tech, mechanical and not disc either.

    • The serious roadbikers do not watch disc brakes. They weigh more than calliper ones. This is Shimano's top of the line.

      • Bikes are also a very conservative market. If you really wanted fast, you'd ride a recumbent.
        Discs are gaining ground slowly.

      • The real reason is that high end competition rules forbid disc brakes (I think that's starting to change in some places though), and high end gear is designed for those competitions.

  • -6

I would rather buy Cardano shitcoin for $2k right now and hodl.

  • Lots of these groupsets and bikes on sale at the moment, this is because disk brake road bikes are now the standard they've managed to get down to the same weights.

  • +1

i love the feel of the disc brakes on my bike …..will never buy caliper brake bike again.

    • Depends, if they are hydraulic, yes. If not, it's the same as caliper brakes.

      • Cable pulled discs aren't the same as rim brakes; certainly hydraulics are better, but cable discs are somewhere in between. On one hand, any disc brakes mean you don't have to worry about your wheel being perfectly true, and much less about wet weather stopping distance. On the other hand, hydraulics need more tools abb and expertise to service, compared to cable. But hydraulics definitely give the most braking power, most easily.
