Seems like this is the 2018 model not the updated 2019, just so people are aware.

For a supposedly premium laptop to come with a 128gb SSD is shameful.

It's to keep the price down. Surface do the same.

Do you know how cheap is a hdd??

I sure do but this is Apple, not Metabox

      • Is it to keep the price down, or is to essentially force people to not buy the cheapest spec'd model? I'm guessing manufacturers aren't paying what we pay for ssds.

When I say to keep the price down I simply mean they can market it with that price. "New 2019 Mac air, lighter, faster blah blah from $13990" and no of course the difference shouldn't be $300 or whatever but as I said earlier, it's Apple. No one is forcing you to buy Apple but people still do purely for the brand, just like Nike, LV etc. Do you really think it costs anywhere up to $240 for a shoe? Of course not. We all know that already. They are there to make as much $ out of you as much as they can get away with. Back to the Mac topic, not everyone can afford the 256g version, say uni students for example. They're only going to use Office and probably save their files on the cloud. At the same time why would they need 256g for? So the 128g would fit their purpose and budget and look cool at the same time.
