[VIC] Free Popup Land Rover Urban Track in Melbourne CBD (Golden Square Carpark, Lonsdale St)

140

Main Point: THEY TAKE WALKINS!!! It is not on their website but they let you just walk up, register, and drive!

Was there yesterday and it was fantastic! Basically you show them your open license and they take your detils to let you in their new model to drive on a really expensive urban track they somehow got up there on the roof. it's through a (secret?) Yellow door.(AKA: Golden Square Car Park on Lonsdale Melbourne)

It's really fun!!! If you're nervous, don't worry, they put professional drivers with you to make sure you know what you're doing.

Wouldn't this be better suited to the forums? I don't this is classed as a deal.

I thought it was a deal. Don't these drive tracks usually cost a bunch of money?

      • Fair call. Any idea how much? (Curious)

        • Not sure. Sorry,didn't ask.

You'd think they would put more money into R+D or compensating their their unhappy customers. Two of my neighbor's own these (SD4 and SD6 HSE Luxury) one has a persistent leak which has caused issues with electricals and interior odours and the other spent 7 out of 18 months in getting an engine problem fixed. They literally had no clue what was wrong with it. Replaced the turbo and several other things before giving him a heavy discount to move from his original SD4 to the SD6 which still actually cost the poor sap $25k.

Okay but did he drive on a free track?

The point of this deal is the track not to buy the car.

      • +1

No, the point of this deal is to advertise a car. You need to read between the lines

        • +10

To clarify, the majority of ozbargainers are not here to buy the car. We just want the free stuff (a test drive on the track).

We all know the car company and organiser wants us to buy the car.

@cute as duck: To clarify I want to point out that these cars are, and have always been really hit and miss in their quality.

            • +2

@[Deactivated]: As long as it doesn't clonk-out during my free test drive around the track it doesn't matter 😉

@cute as duck: Bring an umbrella just in case ☔🙃

@[Deactivated]: m… waiting for more clarifications

It is a deal as they are offering a track to test and you get to test out the features of the car. You don't get anything to take home. Everything is a promo. Suspect its like the track with the ramps and things they had at Aus F1 GP.

      It's a free experience. I consider it a deal

  • +1

Also, for this convo, they never tried to sell me anything, just give an experience I wouldn't forget.

    • You would have had to provide mobile. address or email address for junk mail promo info. Invites for dealer test drives. Bet you didn't know you needed a Landy.

  • Spots are limited. Book now to guarantee this once-in-a-lifetime experience: http://landroverau.click/43afsh

Nothing available for the dates selected.

Main Point: THEY TAKE WALKINS!!! It is not on their website but they let you just walk up, register, and drive!

Walkins might be wasting their time with spots being limited and none are available/left to book.

    • They have walk in spots they don't advertise, obviously it can't get OzBargained due to limited cars there however walk in spots mean spots not advertised online intentionally I would think .

So…. a free test drive? Wow!

  • This is cool. Driving a funky course on a roof. Narf.

  • Drive an Evoque? Those things are giant pieces of shit. Literally a Ford Mondeo chassis in drag. The off-road ability is a creation of the marketing department.

    • +1

Next you'll be telling us… this off-road driving on an artificial track, on top of a CBD car park is a creation of the marketing department!
Everyone knows CBD car parks are the natural environment of these vehicles😉

      • What, CBD car parks?

        • +1

Any weekday, if you compared the number of these off-road in the bush, with the number parked in CBD car parks & garages… You'd realise it's natural habitat is parked, often in the CBD. Most privately owned vehicles spend the majority of their life parked.

              @[Deactivated]: I always take a machete when I go shopping… It's a jungle out there!

Or if you fancy having a play in a few Jaguars, there’s this.

There really is no pressure. Just a chance to try out some cars on the track, with a hot lap at the end. As an extra bonus, free food and drink throughout the session!

    • They had free coffee and snacks so similar.
