What charge rate (watts) does this charger support? I thought that would be relevant information for a charger but maybe that's just me…

Hi there, Samsung don't actually list the wattage on their product page or the packaging but I believe it would be 10watts based on the output voltage and amperage.

      • +1

I went looking on the Samsung page before I posted my comment and couldn't find it either. I also assume 10w but it's a strange detail for Samsung to leave absent.

We agree, strange for them not to list the wattage.

    • Someone correct me if I am wrong but the output wattage can be easily calculated as follow:

      Voltage x amperage = wattage

So this wireless charger outputs anywhere from 5 to 9 watts depending on the device it is charging.

Edit: Samsung seemed to have stated 9w output in previous marketing material: https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Certified-Wireless-Universall…

      • Hi there, yes this would be correct. The device detects what is connected and adjusts the output as needed.

Does this have the Fast Charge 2.0 for the S10 series?

    • Hi there, the spec sheet does not list Fast Charge 2.0 so we would suggest that it is not 2.0 standard.

Rep, would the charger from you be the same as this ebay listing which says 15W output?

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/New-Samsung-Qi-Wireless-Fast-Cha…

    • Hi there, that one looks like it has a different part number to ours. I would probably say it isn't the same as the VxA=W formula does not allow it to be 15watt.

This wireless charger has a fan on the back which uses a terrible bang/bang controller (ie, on at full speed at some temperature, and off above some other temperature). Mine frequently cycled from off to on to off every 10 or so seconds, when fast charging a Note 9 in certain ambient temperatures.

I don't recommend it if you're fast charging and plan on putting it anywhere that you sleep or work, or where you'll be nearby when charging.

    • Are you replying to my link from ebay? I got that one last year for her new Galaxy S8+ then in August and have seen/heard it working with a thin soft case and I have not really noticed any fan nice for the ten days or so I was there since the, although it is in the kitchen and mum is a bit hard of hearing lol.

At the time was trying to get an original/genuine Samsung wireless charger for her so to not damage her new best ever phone, just looked at pictures and good positive feedback, seems to work well so far with supposed Samsung wall charger/usb C cable from same seller as package.

Nope, I was referring to the Samsung-branded one that this deal is based on.

I haven't used the one you linked, which seems to be an off-brand reproduction of the later model Samsung "convertible" charger, which came out a little later (with the S8?).

        • Cheers. Although it has Samsung labelled on all parts and packaging, I had a feeling this might be a copy/fake, but seems to work ok although thought it was bit slow for a 15W Fast Charge Qi as it charges markedly faster via the original or supplied wall charger and cable.

Still works well and slower might even prolong the battery lifespan lol.

  • FYI

Gave one of these to a colleague, a couple of years ago, when he got his new S6 or S7 (can't remember which). He has since upgraded to the S9 and the phone needs to be sat sideways to charge correctly. Not sure if this is a newer version or not.
