For those interested, Cnets comparison with Sony is:

    Points in favor of Bose:

    Sturdier headband
    More detailed sound
Always-on Alexa voice assistant is an option
A programmable button allows you to quickly toggle between 3 levels of noise cancellation of your choosing
Superior voice communication (cell phone calling)
Bose AR as an added feature

Points in favor of Sony WH-1000XM3:

Lower price (the WH-1000XM3 seems to be frequently discounted to $300)
    Slightly more comfortable
Better battery life (30 hours compared to the Bose's 20)
    Meatier bass
    Case is slightly smaller
We like the look of the Sony slightly better

Doesn’t say much about the actual sound but they do give the Sony a higher score.

    • Slightly more comfortable
Better battery life (30 hours compared to the Bose's 20)

Regarding comfort, from previous comments it appears to be quite subjective.
And with battery-life, the reviewer ‘Jimsreview’ if I remember correctly, tested both at equal volume etc and the Bose & Sony were basically dead even at 22-23 hours for both (the Bose’s did higher than claimed & the Sony’s did lower than claimed).

  • I love Bose headphones but was hoping for low latency aptx support.

  • no silver :-/

  • I'm holding out hope that Sony will announce the 1000xm4 in a few days… And that the xm4s will be awesome.

  • If call quality matters to you, there is no competition to Bose NC700. Otherwise seems Sony wins overall.

Didn’t get one myself as it’s too expensive for my budget.

    • Also if ANC makes you feel a little pressured, Bose 700 is MUCH easier, I could actually use ANC comfortably compared to feeling pressure on the ears using QC35 or XM3.

Honestly both the Sony and Bose don’t sound very good to my ears. I know reviewers rave about it but I find something like B&O H9i and B&W PX sounding much much better.

They are not raving about the sony and bose sounding great. They are raving about ANC.

If one is after great sound on headphone these sony and bose are not it.

      • Ok that makes sense.

  • I just put this up about getting great Bose discounts on eBay
