  I think they are making way for Versa 2 which according to the feature list on the Fitbit website has a few more smart features minus the built-in GPS compared to the Ionic.

  I grabbed a Charge 3 from the Amazon Prime Day sale and have used it every single day since then to help track sleep, calories burned during exercise and the app is very easy to log calorie intake.

  I am tempted at "upgrading" to the Ionic for this price, but the Versa 2 does look good on paper.

    In my opinion, fitbit is only good if you are fitness oriented, if you're looking for for a hybrid, samsung or apple would probably be a better choice. And the Ionic allows you to be completely phone free during your workouts which is an important factor in choosing it for me.

    Lack of GPS means it is just a pedometer with smart features. GPS is required for anyone into running/cycling/swimming that seriously wants to monitor their progress. If you're happy to have your phone stuck to you then sure, assisted GPS will work. The Ionic is in no way making way for the Versa 2 though.
