Tool: Fear Inoculum (Limited Edition CD Package) US$45.98 + US$20 shipping (~AU$97)

170

Not as good as the ~AU$74 pre-order deal from Amazon, but still cheaper than the AU$140 JB Hi-Fi/Sanity prices (sold out) and the $300-400 these are selling for on eBay.

  • yep i set my alarm for 3am.worth noting its today only until sold out

  • Finally got it last week. Been my favourite band since the early 90s, gonna be honest and say I'm not a fan of FI. But I said that about 10,000 Days and that's grown on me immensely in the last 10 years.

Maynard hates the band members. The other band members hate him. This will be the last album they release.

buying the CD copy results in less tracks. They couldn't fit on all the intermissions, on the digital purchase you get it all.

About 12 plays into it and it’s an amazing album. Let it grow on you and go with the evolution of a bands style. If it was the same as Undertow and Aenema then those albums would not be as classic

    • Yeah, only listened to it once so far, but honestly nothing memorable outside of parts of 7empest, and even that feels over done.

Hoping it will grow on me, but 10,000 days never truly did for me even after extended listening… Maybe 4 tracks.

There's only really 7 tracks on 10000 Days, when you combine Wings for Marie into one song, and discount the interlude wank. If I like 4 songs off an album, then I call it good, even the best artists have filler.

I was disappointed by Fear inoculum, but after 2-3 listens to the main tracks, it's really grown on me. Pneuma and Invincible are great tracks.

If you condensed wings for Marie then you've dropped the count to maybe 3, and that includes Jambi, which my mind is telling was good, not can't remember how it goes.

So far I'm finding the new album let down vocally, with manard just stuck in a drone chant the entire album.
It also sounds, imo, too digital and complex. It has some great effects but I feel there are so many overlapping effects and digital changes that it voids itself off personality. It still sounds like tool, but perhaps too much noise saturation

          • @Salmando: The production is pretty shithouse, generic jams in background with Mr mumble mumbling. Listen on Spotify for free, it's rubbish

@DemocracyManifest: I'd usually go on the defensive here, but album definitely feels a bit that way to me. Instrumentally tool at times, with Maynard hopelessly flat…

              Exactly what you said.

Might not progress past it's current pirated stage

  • i grabbed one, didn't even think of the conversion cost in my haste. (bought via google link not here which outlines it clearly)
it's the postage cost that's the real kicker .
but as you say better than aus store or ebay pricing.

i had ordered one yesterday off amazon for $68AU [one in stock via third party seller] but was sent an email tonight stating mistaken stock level and none available, so then jumped back onto google and saw the toolband link.

curious what variant will end up with.

edit: oooh the download link is a choice of mp3, flac or wav. that's good!

  • Mine arrived yesterday, it’s a very cool package.

  • I held off when on Amazon, then when pre-order was like $140, not now!

  • All gone, wonder how many extra they were making

  • Will hold out for vinyl

Is this to make up for the money they could have made releasing an album in the two deacdes

  • Although not the physical album, this may still interest those who want to listen to Fear Inoculum legally and at high quality 96kHz/24-bit
