    Finally!

I joined OzBargain eight years ago after my old butter dish broke and have been searching ever since for a good deal on a replacement.

Thanks you for finally helping me reach my OzBargain goal, OP. At last, my work here is done…

Help me a little with a /S flag at the end of your comment mate :D

I can't think of something less useful than this.

I mean, your comment doesn't seem like it has a lot of point to it.

Is this for butter storage? Read the description and still couldn't figure out its purpose.

I know Amazon is full of stuff I don't need, is this just one of those items?

    • -1

Yeah it is to storee your butter/cheese block in the fridge as well as when you serve them. Keeps them organised and fresh and the bamboo base lets them breath. Quite a useful thing actually.

      • Does it soften the butter?
        Because that would be useful.

        • It will help it keep its natural moisture, so prevents it from drying out and getting harder.

          • @Rimas: Butter does not dry out, and keeps best when wrapped in non-permeable (waxed or foil) paper.

            You are thinking of cheese?

            • @bargaino: Oops must have read that wrong. I meant cheese indeed.

Might take some time to scoop out the entire butter from its container. What’s the benefit of this dish over its container?

    • +1

Well, if by butter you mean the margarine which comes in a plastic container, the advantage if this would be the looks and the bamboo base which lets it breath. Many people consume dairy butter which usually comes wrapped in a flimsy foil, not a container so this one keeps it organised and fresh needless of the foil. Also handy when storing/serving your feta block in the fridge and on the table.

        You're making me cry …

Butter is sold in blocks, wrapped in paper, not tubs. It sounds like you have been eating something else. Peanut butter? Vegetable fat product?

      • Spreadable butter, perhaps?

        • +1

No such thing. Spread containing butter is not butter.

    • +3

this is meant for butter sold in blocks, not margarine tubs.

Butter often comes in just a wrapper.
(lol, that got jumped on hard)

  • Bought one not sure why, maybe wife will appreciate and usually shooting for myself on bargain 😂

    • Yes your wife should shoot you for not buying the $4 version at Target.

      • Lol the $4 Target one doesn't have a bamboo base to let the butter breathe (as per OP)

Didn't know butter needed to breathe

Is exposure to air (letting it breathe) good for butter or does it contribute to rancidity?

        • Salted butter hardly goes rancid same as cheese so long as they are covered. The breathing part was for the cheese though :)
