I just read their new WiFi 6 version is gonna be USD$700! (AU$1,000> Makes this look even better value

  • I bought this yesterday and set it up last night. Setup was easy enough. Yet to really test well to see if there's much improvement over the Asus RT-AC68U it replaces. I bloody well hope so for the price! Officeworks looked long and hard before they would price match for me. Just happened my local in Woolloongabba had a couple in stock. Not many stores have it.

So is it a good upgrade? I am currently using RT-AC68U and a netgear range extender. I am thinking upgrade to a mesh system with good range coverage as the extender has very weak signal in the bedroom :(

Also can you buy extra satelite to extend range?

      • Don't know yet. Haven't had time to test.

      • Oh and yes, you can buy extra satellites.

      • Asus also has AiMesh capabilities, instead of getting rid of your RT-AC68U, you could just get another Asus router and set up a mesh system that would work just like the Orbi… Might be a cheaper option if your AC68U is still going strong.

        • Thanks for the info. Whats the cheapest aimesh system unit that I can get?

  • What was the best price previously? I've had my eye on this but I haven't seen it below $400 for a while (most of the eBay "sales" bring it down to about $405), and CamelCamelCamel says the lowest on Amazon AU has been $379.11, so this looks like a pretty damn good price to me!

Wireless1 had a father's Day sale that brought it down to $299 as per a previous post. At a guess, that's as low as it's been. The price match brought it down to $334 for me. I was ok with that.
