    this or Uniqlo ?

    • +7

Go to a store and try them on first, I guess. Clothes are always going to be a personal thing when it comes to fit.

The nearest Target to me is a five minute walk. The nearest Uniqlo a two hour drive. So I’d personally be opting for the Target option if they fit well.

      • +2

How do they compare to Uniqlo/H&M quality wise?

Some clothing feel very cheap from BigW etc

        • +3

These are great chinos for the price. I wore the blue for work and they did fade a bit but that's after heavy use. I have some the sandy coloured ones that I wear most weekends. I feel they definitely compare to h and m

    • Uniqlo are stretchy. Has target offered similar now?

      • +3

The stretchy jean ones are the best.

    • +3

      own pairs of both.

At $10 the Target pairs will serve your well.

Find they are a bit more "crunchy" in feel and make a bit more noise when walking.

Uniqlo also do have a wider range of colours, so for me would buy Target the core colours they have and top up at Uniqlo.

    • +1

      I have both in skinny.
I wear the Uniqlo ones regularly - very comfortable and not too skinny.
The Target ones are very skinny, so much so that I generally don't wear them. The fabric is much thinner than Uniqlo too.

      • in skinny, 2 brands i trust: Uniqlo & ASOS.

        • Mr. P has some great chinos for skinny, I've got a bunch from there.

  • +3

    Thanks OP, ordered.

  • Cheers, good price.

  • Thanks, ordered too!

  • +3

perfect timing, getting too fat for my old ones

  • +4

I bought these when they had the 2 for $40 sale. Very comfy. The straight and slim pants are quite wide below the knee. The skinnys are very tight so you might need 1 size up.

Skip leg day and you’ll be fine.

      • +1

Cut off your chino legs before you skip leg day!

  • +3

Cheers OP….unfortunately zero stock of any slim/skinny in my size anywhere on the Northside of Brissy.

Bought some a while back though and they were super comfortable, a couple more pairs would have been great.

  • +4

Only a single belt loop up the back unfortunately, which can cause a large crease in belts.

Prefer the dual as seen in the below.

    • large crease in belts.

Wdym? How loose do you wear your belts?

      • Not loose at all.

    • -1

Just buy the right size so you don't need a belt.

They cost nearly 3X more but any shorter-type ppl looking for Chino's amazon aus has a good selection of colours in shorter leg lengths. eg. 36x30

As an average height person with short limbs, i salute you

    • Thanks!
Pretty much exactly my pant measurements… 😉

      How is the quality?

      • Variable.

Certainly light-weight when travelling <7kg worth of luggage.

Skinny is American-skinny and so not really skinny.

        • Thanks :)
When you say "variable", are there specific ones you can recommend from your experience?

  • Great price, worth a go especially with easy returns policy. Ordered 2 pairs, thanks!

  • +1

    Plenty of sizes left. Thanks

  • Thanks OP, bought some for work click and collect

  • Thanks ordered a few.

  • +2

Very odd fit on these I found, suggest trying first. I much prefer the Uniqlo ones but have also found they get a bit baggy after a few washes.

    • Can always order first (the true ozbargain way) and then return if it doesn't fit within 28 days

      • -1

        (the true ozbargain way)

Wear it daily then return it on the 28th day.

Pro tip: Ensure you tuck the tag inside.

          This is ozbaegain, not ozUnethical

  • Skinny fit can be tight around the calves, otherwise great price!

  • +4

Obviously a lot more expensive, but I found the new 2019 version of the Skinny Chinos at Country Road are pretty good, they seem slightly different to the old ones, feel nicer, fit nicer etc.

Just throwing it out there as another option for people.

One of the few places where I have found Chinos that fit the waist and are still the right length in the leg.

    • +1

      $99+
      No thanks

      • -1

        $99+

(profanity) me dead and bury me pregnant.
Surely they have sales yeah? What % to expect?

    • These are actually really good! I am a convert. Just picked up a two pairs for $60 each using a friend's staff discount.

    • Agreed, they fit much better than previous iterations whose leg openings/hems were too wide. CR is also definitely more ethical in its production than Uniqlo.

Another similarly well fitting and underappreciated pant is Mr Simple's Slim Chino. Academy Brand's Skinny Stretch Chino also fits and feels great but I'm not sure if it would be as durable as the above two.

  • Cheers OP snagged 3 pairs

  • Sorry I'm waiting for "Chinas for $10.50" deal.

  • Thanks OP, ordered 2 navy blue ones.

  • Have two pairs of 2018 regular chinos, managers markdown to $5. A lucky find. Hard wearing and good quality.

  • Will pop in and check out the chinos. I bought the stretchy fit jeans H&M and I love it. Also love the uniqlo and GU jeans.

  • Thanks OP, bought a few pairs for work.

  • Looks to be sold out online for my size anyway. Anyone know if instore still has stock not listed online?

  • +1

Thanks for sharing. Son picked up a navy pair of the $10.50 slim fit chinos tonight and is happy. Plenty of stock at Cranbourne Centro. He has only just bought a straight pair from JeansWest on the weekend at 40% off, but of course this is a better deal.

  • How do we check stock levels before going to the actual store?

    • +3

There should be an online option for stock check if you fill in your postcode, or you can call the physical store too

  • Which would be skinnier/tighter? Slim or skinny fit? I'm usually a 38/34 so thinking Original is probably the best to stick too, but I do own a few slim type clothes already.
    Thanks!

    • +1

      Skinny

      • +1

        Thanks

  • Why are people trying to compare uniqlo to the target pants? arent the Uniqlo almost 5 times the price?

    • +1

      This is ozbargain pommie

  • Pretty comfy went to target to try it out, make sure you go to the clearance section.

  • -1

Picked up my order today from the Doncaster Westfield store. Normally size 36 waist but in these I'm a 32! Suggest you try before you buy as the sizing is way off.

Plenty of stock (20+ pairs of each colour) if you are size 38 or 40 waist. Hardly any smaller sizes left.

  • Picked up a few pairs at Target in Fremantle WA - they seemed to have loads in all sizes at this store.
The skinny didn't suit me (I don't skip leg day) but the superflex DNM straight fit nice and the material is nice.

  • Are Target chinos better than Big W's?

    • +1

They probably are a step up from Big W but can't confirm from experience.
