Friend, I fail to see a need for a gender bias in this selection criteria. And a single day workshop seems a bit poinless.

And a single day workshop seems a bit poinless.

Pointless if you are programming since few years but may be useful for people who have no previous coding experience.

Friend, true point. I can see it being useful for people that don't know if they want to do "programming", but when the course seems to be backed by an ulterior motive I'm not sure it would be the best choice. I'd suggest checking out something like guru99 or even mozilla (for javascript). I think medium also has some good vue/react tutorials.

        • What ulterior motive?

If you work in the industry, you know that there aren't enough women in it.

Soon there won't be enough Australians in it.

    From the event listing:
“Workshops range from beginner to more advanced and are open to all women, trans and non-binary folks aged 16+.”

Is it open to everyone as the post suggests or exclusive as the actual event page details?

      Hey Gradesbrah,

Thanks for your enquiry, as listed on the event page in FAQ men can attend alongside others. From the FAQ on the eventpage:

      "Can men attend?
Muses Code JS run workshops for women, trans and non-binary participants nation-wide. Anyone who is an ally to diversity may apply, we ask that you attend with a friend or colleague who is female-identifying or NB. If capacity is reached, preference will be given to initial parties listed. "

Why ally to diversity only includes 3 of the 4 groups?

SJWbargain or OZbargain? What does NB mean? Is this deal targeted?

Male identifying ozbargainers should all try and go and see what they do. Its like those events where SJWs swarm in cos they dont agree with what the event is about.

      Agree, changing + to -

  • Time to wear a skirt and tadaaaa!

Learning should be free of any discrimination

    • Its fine to offer a course (intro) to students or a certain gender.

It gets weird when they say if its full we are gonna kick you out. Just be upfront and say no straight males.

  • +1

I do not support any sort of discrimination.

    That's sexist

I was going to share it with my colleagues until I saw the fine prints. It's terrible. What has Australia come to!?
