  • My next TV will be a 75inch but I want OLED. I am going to wait until they are more affordable.

  • Anyone have this screen ? I have a 2016 75" lg that suffers from the up and down blooming of light. Anyone know if this screen suffers same issue?

    • Hey mate, according to rtings review of the SM9000 and the SM5900 (TVs either side of this one) they suffer from the same blooming.

      https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/lg/sm9500

Try turning of LED dimming, that will minimise it FYI.

      • Shame. Dont know why they haven't found a way to fix this. Is it due to the panel type in use? Biggest issue I have with my screen. Plus Dolbuly vision isnt great in my mind. The issue with that fix is it hobbles her performance.

        • Agreed. The local LED dimming increases contrast but it adds light bloom. Unfortunately that's what IPS panel types restrictions (I believe)

So it's a great TV for bright areas and sports and gaming. But if you're looking at something prioritized for movies look at a different option maybe.

          • @teereb: Yeah I have also read that its a side effect of iOS panels. Oh well.

            • @hazzad: There are some decent 75" TVs under a $3k price point that'll do movies better than the LG posted here, but will fall short in other areas.

              • @teereb: Yeah looking for a TV to replace my 2016 75" lg and another cheaper 75" for a holiday house. The army 7100 ousted below might a decent contender for the latter. Even if there are any benefits of the LG they are outweighed by that screen issue. Quite hard to see past once you know it's there. Particularly at night with dim lighting.

                • @hazzad: Yeah I agree. Also using a 2016 LG (Albeit it 65"). The Local dimming improves contrast (in an artifical way imo). The samsung LED LCDs don't use IPS panels like LG which gives them better contrast, but worse viewing angles. Just a trade off hey.

My next TV will be an OLED from LG I think. That'll be a year off at least though.

@teereb: Yeah i wish oleds were more affordable in larger sizes. Could never go back to anything under 75"

  • Anyone know if https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/UA75RU7100WXXY-Samsung-75-Inch-S… is a good price?
with Code PLAN20 it brings it down to $1600 but they charge 220 for delivery. so now $1820, From the look at other deals this looks pretty decent for a 75"

One of the best prices I've seen to be honest.

Cheapest is $1900 in store at HN / Good Guys / JBHiFi that I've seen in store.

Cracking deal. Brother bought that TV a few months back, he likes it. I personally prefer LG, but much of a muchness. Won't get much cheaper decent options especially at that size.

I've watched a few 4k movies on it, does the job well.

      • Read above about lg's issues with light blooming. Very bad for night time movie watching.

  • Brought one, price too good to give up. Size and hdmi 2.1 :)
