Seagate 1.5TB FreeAgent GoFlex 2.5" $138.98+$8.98 shipping (can pickup for $0) with 3.0 adapter

63

My 1st post, be nice. :)
I've just received a e-mail from ozStock about this deal.
Why it is a deal?
Package Includes:

1 x GoFlex ultra–portable drive
1 x Pre–loaded backup software with encryption
1 x GoFlex USB 2.0 or 3.0 interface adapter <===
1 x 18-inch USB 2.0 or 3.0 cable <==
1 x Quick Start Guide

Yes, I have called them and confirmed that you can choose 3.0 interface adapter for the harddisk which will cost you min $19 from outside. (But I don't know how they do it as 2.0 adapter is normally included in the package…)

  • amazing bargain!!

  • Why would anyone choose the USB2 version? Why don't they put USB3 on the page and have USB2 as a special secret option. Would be good to get the reps input on this.

    • I thought it was a typo before, so I called up to check with them. The lady was not pretty sure at the beginning. But after she saw Package Including part, she said what we have said on the page what you can get from us.

          HT rules, no fuss, no trying to weasel out, no trying to be heroes, just BAM, $106 off. Word to my dawg Mikinoz for throwing it down too.

        • lucky lucky bastard

      • Just be carefull the stock is not exactly live, i recommend call first to check its actually real.

    • lol goodluck with that!

  • already mentioned in my post here http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/48367 but i suppose a separate post will suffice

  • If they provide the USB3 cable = why does their product specification about the cable link to Shopping Squares listing!?
    Anything said for a Sale perhaps!?

    • lol! :S

  • There also doesn't seem to be anywhere you can select or even state which cable you want with the drive. Checked all the way through to the Paypal page.

      Seems risky without that.

    • Yeah i'm having a hard time finding where you can select the usb3.0 option!!

      BUT!! If you look at the last image under the listed photo's it states USB3.0 is 10 times faster and that its Compatible with USB2.0

      On the FreeAgent GoFlex 1.5TB 2.5" drive i ordered from the Zazz.com.au deal a week ago. The box states USB 3.0 Upgradable in the same location that THIS ONE! has USB3.0 is 10 times faster and Compatible.

      This could be why they listed the contents as USB3.0/USB2.0 cables are inside.

      There's a chance it comes with both USB3.0 & 2.0 Cables and a chance it wont.

      • Cool Story Braah!

    Honestly, there is nothing about that webpage that says you get the usb3 adaptor. (I REALISE you've called them.. but read 3 below)

    What has happened here is:
    1. The description is generic. It lists specs that apply to both the USB2 and USB3 model.
    2. The title on the page says you are getting the USB2 model. So you will get the USB2 cable.
    3. The phone operator is CONFUSED. As happens a lot when non-tech people are employed in tech jobs.

    You're going to get a usb2 cable. That's that. You might be able to complain and score yourself the usb3 cable because the operator said so, but I hope you got their name at least. And theyll be in the shit.

    Its not a bad price, but I'm negging because IMHO thread is wrong.

      I emailed Ozstock yesterday regarding the USB3.0 cable and was advised 'sorry for the mistake, it should be USB2.0 cable. thank you.'

      • That clears that up!
