very solid tablet - used it on holidays for watching videos on the train/plane, and in hotels used a usb-c hub to output to hdmi onto the TV (and on Samsung smart TV's the wireless mirroring also worked great).

  • and on Samsung smart TV's the wireless mirroring also worked great).

You dont even have to have a samsung tv to mirror. I have a panasonic tv and i can mirror to it.

My neighbours lg tv shows up as a tv i can mirror to. So definitely not just a samsung thing.

Decent deal, best mid-priced Android 10" tablet I know of atm.

  • Has anyone experienced wifi issue that the Verge has been moaning about?

    • When I first got it, I experienced the wifi issue while trying to make it happen.

But after putting it in a case and software updates I haven't randomly experienced it.

It's really good tablet for watching youtube and movies.

    • Nope, never experienced it myself - its in a slim case and never had any wi-fi issues

  • is this latest model?

    • Nope, S6 has just been released this month. 400 bucks in difference though.

The S5e and S6 are I think intended to be sold side-by-side. The S5e being a value model, and the S6 the latest and greatest. The S5e is a value tweak of the S5.

Down a grade is the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1.

If you are using the tablet beyond videos/email/social, I find the onboard memory (RAM) a big factor in performance. Android uses libraries to maintain backwards (and forward) compatibility and I tend to find that over a devices life, memory consumption goes much higher. So I find the Galaxy A too little memory (fine if you just want to watch videos), and prefer the S5e 128GB storage model as it has 6GB RAM of the S5e 64GB which only has 4GB. The S6 128GB has 6GB RAM, and the 256GB 8GB RAM. So personally I find the S5e 128GB goes pretty close to the S6 128GB for much less $ (the S6 does have a more capable CPU/GPU). All of the 2019 models use USB-C charging BTW.

      • Not the Tab A 8 inch (2019), previous gen Tab A 8 (2017) had USB C but they changed they to micro USB B this year 🙄🙄

  • I reckon it's got the crispest screen on any tablet I've used. Great sound,Super light as well. Doesnt have wireless charging, which I reckon would be a useful feature though.

USB c is good, no more turning cables 3 times…

  • anyone know if officeworks would price match this?

    • Thats a no because of coupon code discount.

  • Item is now out of stock. I missed out.

    • Back in stock.

  • for extra $120, is it worth getting the 128gb 6gb version?

already have 2018 ipad and 2017 12 inch pro though.

  • any chance we are gonna have this deal soon?

  • Out of stock. Missed out.
