6 Gold Class Movie Vouchers + Complimentary Domestic Return Flights (AMEX Credit Card)

270

I wasnt going to mention this but I thought it'll be more of a benefit for us PERTH people rather than the eastern states.

I was reading the Gold class offer on the Amex Platinum Edge CC…. I noticed that there is a Annual Fee of about $149. if you live in Perth, like I do…. I noticed that the Destinations seem to faver the WA ozbarginers!(YAY!!!!)

check out the destination guide here.. coz the one on the actual gold class site dont work…

http://www.americanexpress.com/australia/campaigns/platinum_…

I figure it cost us perth people a few $$ to go to the eastern states.. and $149 for a return flight was a bit of a bargin… considering it can cost up to $150 for just for oneway… plus you get some gold class movie tickets thrown in!!

I'd personally consider going to Brissie just for this deal alone…. I understand its about $180 at a sale price… normally about $250 odd without a sale … from perth

But I would double check before making any applications!!

Not sure what they're worth but the movie vouchers appear to be in place of the points 15-20,000 for spending $500 in 2 months.

Pretty crap deal to be honest. Not only is the card $149 per year but the interest rate is over %20.

You pay interest? $149 for 6 gold class sessions and return flight sounds like a bargain to me. just cancel it after the first 12 months.

If you have to worry about the interest rate than you really shouldn't be looking at a card that has rewards. Cards that come with rewards are for people who pay off their card in full each month and never pay a cent of interest.

The interest rate only applies if you have money thats unpaid… im sure fellow ozbarginers know about that one!?

      • There's no mention of interest free days, unlike every other AMEX card T&C.

        • If it hasn't changed, it should 55 days as I have had one since March 2011. Normally statement date on the 17th and pay on the following 11th.

you mean they are trying to get you to have a credit card so they can make money off you - my faith in mankind is shattered

  • good deal but:

    Approval Criteria

You are over 18 years of age.
You have a good credit history.
You have an annual Income of $50,000 p.a. or more.
You are a permanent resident/citizen of Australia.
If Self Employed you have been trading for at least 18 months or 12 months if you hold an existing American Express-issued Card.

    I dont earn 50k yet :(

For a 'Platinum' card, $50k is considered quite low. It is also likely that the card will come with a minimum credit limit of around $5k - $7k, so unless you have excellent financial dicipline, I'd steer clear away from a Platinum card and get a basic card instead :)

      • Can someone confirm if this has a 5k credit minimum? I'm looking to get a spare CC just in case

  • Note they haven't aligned with Qantas on this card which means you can't transfer your points to their frequent flyer program if thats your prefered choice. Still a good deal for the flight and tickets though.

  • The previous offer was 20,000 bonus points. Now it is 6 gold class movie tickets. This is a better deal if you like going to gold class coz for Amex $100 = 13,500 points. Gold class ticket is $38 each x 6 = $228.

By the way, I used $500 in the first month, but they still haven't given me the bonus 20,000 points… Very naughty!
