Are the 3600 just binned 3XXX chips? And is a 3600 enough for most stuff including gaming? The 3700X seems a big jump in price.
The 3600/3600x are their own series (6 core / 12 thread Zen 2). 3600 is arguably the best value Ryzen at the moment and more than enough for gaming and other use.
is that worth to upgrade from 1800x?
Others may be able to answer that better. The 3600 gets a 29ish% better mark in benchmarks than 1800x, so it's definitely an improvement but not sure if its worth it for you. You could probably sell your 1800x on eBay. I would wait until 4xxx series is released to see what is on offer and if the current socket/boards are compatible… at the very least it might also be a better time then to buy a 3600.
The next generation of Threadripper is supposed to be announced next week and released alongside the 3950X in November if you're in the market for ALL THE CORES, or in my use case all the PCI lanes.
What do you mean by all the cores? Two of the four dies in TR are non-functional. Only Epyc has all four dies working and only the 75 & 76 series have all the cores enabled on every CCX.
