Just fyi, during previous eBay sales, when I compare computer alliance and wireless1, for the same exact laptop, wireless1 is cheaper after discount (even when ca has higher discount)

    • +16

Ironically, the best deals seem to come from 15% codes.

      • +5

That's because the eBay Plus 15% deals have a greater portion of it being taken by eBay, and a smaller portion by the seller. So the seller marks up prices less.

        • +7

So open criminal conduct in violation of ACL.

          • +6

@Diji1: Not to mention all re-sellers invoicing at the full price and not the price you actually pay.

            • +3

@stinhambo: Great for TRS you say?

            • @stinhambo: I think thats because eBay wears the discount.. I could be wrong

              • @sjp770: Than they should be invoicing eBay separately. Can't get my head around this as eBay don't send me the discount amount therefore I shouldn't be invoiced for it!

    • The 15% sale last month, CA were second cheapest for a $900 item I bought.
And currently $20 cheaper than Mwave and scorptec (still second cheapest) on something I’m watching.
Just depends on what you want.

    • +5

wireless 1 is usually about $5-8 cheaper then computer alliance. But if you have ever been in or spoken to comp alliance you know their after product warranty/advice/support is worth much more then $8 if you ever have a problem with an expensive bit of tech. They have been around long long before the internet as a shop front for decent advice and nothing has changed in that department.

      • +1

Their "after product support" for my LG monitor was to tell me its LGs problem and hang up. Helpful.

        • I had a similar issue, I just took some stuff out of ACL which they didn't appreciate.

          • +4

@bxpressiv: This. It IS their problem under ACL. You CAN choose to go to LG yourself, or you can work with them. That's YOUR decision.

            • -2

@Gav: Agreed if it is under manufacturers warranty all they do is act as a middle man and send recieve it to and from lg. So they probably told you to speed up the process…

        • +4

Under ACL, vendor CANNOT deflect you to the manufacturer.

      • $5-$8? Based on $40 items? $2000 items?

    • +1

when you are searching for an item on ebay, is it possible to get the after-coupon price to show up without having to click on each listing and check?

    • But you supported this deal. I'm confused.

  • Nice! Decent max discount too

  • +9

Individual store discounts of '20%' usually only result in same price as other normally lower priced stores or > 5% discount as a whole.

    • +2

CA tends to be a bit better then other stores (from memory), but will only come out to a 10% or so discount overall.

    • +1

Yes well, I'd hope anyone savvy enough to come to OzB would know to check the price not the discount, especially as this isn't something new, it's always been the case.

  • +20

    Hi JACK

  • +15

Looks to be increased prices already :(

    • What went up on price?

      • +2

Ryzen 3600 has gone up about 20 bucks or so, I got it for 324 minus 15% on their last sale.

        • That's exactly what I'm looking for to upgrade the 2600. Not sure if it's worth the upgrade for gaming

          • +1

@markdownhunter: You should be alright for at least a year imo. Unless you need to play max/ultra settings on the latest AAA titles, but I think you'd more likely have other bottlenecks than your CPU.

            • @J4ckal: It's paired with a 2070 super, MSI b450 mobo and 16gb 3200mhz ram. I was unsure if this cpu was going to have enough HP to keep up with the gpu for the next cycle of AAA games

              • @markdownhunter: Do some benchmarks if you can, but yeah your CPU will probably be one of the first things you'd want to upgrade. I still think you're fine holding off for now. Prices will get cheaper as hardware also improves

          • +1

@markdownhunter: its not worth the upgrade for anything but gaming lol

IF you game then its worth it.. if you do other things apart from gaming its not :)

        • +1

You can often put subtle changes to currency. MSY is like that.

        • 3600x was $330.65 (15%off-last deal ($389) ), tomorrow it will be $319.2 Price has gone up by $10. Currency fluctuation?

        • The 3600 has been $349 for the last 2 weeks from CA.

    • But no examples. Cheap post.

  • +2

Let’s see what we can get this round 🍻

    • any ideas.

      • Xbox controllers

  • 20% off Sitewide

    Is it sitewide though?

    • +1

      Yes, should be "storewide".

  • +28

I remember when 20% off computer alliance was exciting..

    • +1

I agree it's not exciting, but you'll still do better than umart on a bunch of stuff.

      • +1

Not amazing, but still tend to flog everything else in Aus.

      • -1

Right now, umart is selling the WD red 10tb less than alliance. That's AFTER 20% discount that they have on now with PSPRUNG

        • +1

How many other items did you check? All the stuff I looked at came out cheaper with Computer Alliance. Just luck of the wishlist I guess.

I just looked up your item, and that must be a user specific Umart promo or something? Can you provide links? I feel like I'm missing something here.

          Umart: WD100EFAX = $439 + Shipping
Computer Alliance eBay: WD100EFAX = $367.20 with free shipping

    • Getting a 1TB Samsung 970 Evo PLUS NVMe for $287.20 with free copy of BL3 is pretty exciting to me.

  • -4

Is there any good speaker for ps4? Help me out ozbargainers :)

    • +5

The speaker on the PS4 controller is really nice.

  • +15

should report price jacking if they do it every 'sale'. fkn scummy practice

    • These guys are much better than most

      • +9

        at jacking, yes.

        • They do jack up prices, but they are reliable, accurate, and their support is nothing but pleasant.

  • +40

    Spreadsheet version: Google Sheets

Though may be a bit late, sounds like they're pre-jacking this one

    • +22

premature Jackulation. Ending in disappointment since forever.

heh. I just couldn't help myself.

    • +2

      Great job!

Just wondering how you scrape the ebay listing data to Google spreadsheet?

    • They seem to do it for their own sale ($579 base price for 3700x as an example), but when it's the eBay wide one, they don't ($519 base price for the same 3700x).

    • +5

How did you scrape the ebay items and price into this spreadsheet? This would be a perfect way to prove pricejacking.

    • +2

dang are you a magician, how'd you do that?

Is there an export to csv or something?

    • +6

Wow. Nice work. I want to strongly encourage this type of monitoring of prices before and during these sales. It can only be a good thing.

    • Thank you for this effort, much appreciated.

    • Why can all stores have listings as good as this available to end users, for ebay and also there normal web stores, so much easier to find everything with no overhead.

      G

  • Asus GTX 1660TI seems to be out of stock : (

    • Hopefully they increase stocks of a few things before the sale goes live… I was looking at 8TB HDDs and there's only 1 in stock (need 3x).

Not much use of a sale, if there's not enough stock to go 'round.

      • Well they don't want to make sales that's why they jack the prices.

  • +1

No listing of RX 5700 XT, only the 5700. :(

    • Couple of other good sales for the cards right now.

      • Also chasing 5700XT equivalent. What's the current bang for buck GPU…

        • There's a model of the pulse being sold that allows for the 20% coupon to be used, best value easily as it sits around $665.

Otherwise, the gigabyte model should be around $680 now. Altough it should be better ($640~) if CA gets them back in stock during the 20% off.

          • @N1NJ4W4RR10R: Do you have a link please. Cheers

            • @R3XNebular: Browser's playing up, won't let me paste. But if you search "sapphire 5700xt pulse" into the eBay search bar it'll be the one with the 20% off in the pic. Something around $830 as the listed price, but drops to $665 after the code.

  • No 5700 XT, no MSI B450m Mortar, no deal! :(

    • I did not neg you but they do seem to still have the MSi B450M Mortar on their eBay

It should come to $127.2 with the code if they don’t jack the price of it which is the lowest I’ve ever seen it and one of the few potential deals I’ve spotted so far

      • I just realised that I forgot to include the word 'Max' in my post. I am after the Max version, cbf mucking around with bios updates only to get a stripped down version of it

  • +1

Ryzen 3600 is sitting at $349, -20% will take it down to $279, but I saw them at $272 during the last 15% off eBay Plus deal. I can wait. I'm going to wring every last cent out of these 18% off eBay gift cards :P

  • jack ur price

  • +6

    The names Jack… Price Jack

  • +6

Samsung 28” uhd monitor was $359 now $399. I am now buying from Futu for same price with guarantee delivery date.

    • +2

Futu are serial price jackers as well

  • +2

Prices aren't that much better than MSY's 10% deal but at least everything I want is in stock and saves me the hassle of dealing with MSY.

  • +35

Computer alliance got a reputation on ozb when they didn't jack up their prices but lately they have been just as bad as most. Shame tbh.

    • +5

I was just thinking this. They were the good guys but appears as though they gave into the dark side.

      • +3

        You were the chosen one!

        • +1

OzBargain: It's over Computer Alliance, I have the high ground.
Looks through google doc from /u/schquid.

Computer Alliance: You underestimate my power!

          OzBargain: Don't try it.
Starts to add items into cart ready for sale.

          [eBay sale commences.]

          Computer Alliance: Yaaaaarrrrrghhhh!
          Commences price jacking attack.

OzBargain: Parries attack and counters with the removal of pre-carted items.

          Computer Alliance: Arrgghhh!
Cries out in pain as no one makes purchases during the sale.

OzBargain: You were the chosen one! You where suppose to bring order to these eBay sales not destroy them!
Computer Alliance continues to moan in the background.

    • +5

They do, two items i have in my watch list from the past few days are up ~$50

  • -1

Do they have LG UltraGear 27GL850 27? Places have been selling for $749.

    dammit they dont.

  • Got two Orico HDD enclosures last time, now looking for a 1TB SSD. Still worth getting after price jack?

    • +3

      Samsung EVO 860 1TB SSD - Normally $190-$199, sale price $159.20

This is a great price. I'll be buying one tomorrow.
