90 (or 60) Days Free Access to 1000+ Documentaries at iWonder (Documentary Streaming)

380
NRMATRIALQANTAS60

Exclusive Qantas deal (from flight)… but code seems to be generic!

Have not tried myself, but I do love a good doco!

Edit - thanks to @gipsmuh you can get 90 days with NRMA code :)

  • Cool. Trying it out now. Cheers OP.

It looks like you can get a 90 day trial with code NRMATRIAL if you're an NRMA member (or perhaps even if you're not) - more details are at https://www.mynrma.com.au/membership/benefits/iwonder

      Not a NRMA member - Worked👍
      Next Billing Cycle : 26th Dec 2019
Set reminder to cancel, else $6.99/mth

      • Same Thanks gibspmuh :)

Cancel now and the account remains valid until the end of the free cycle.

"As you requested, we have cancelled your account with effect from 24/11/2019. You may continue to use your iwonder account without any further charges until that date, at which point your login will no longer give you access to iwonder."

        • Expected someone would test that. So thanks👍

  • Password visible by default :D

Better set a reminder to canceling.

    • Why the down vote?

Is there a list of their documentaries somewhere so we can decide whether it's worth the effort to join?

    • +3

Ask them to make a documentary about the documentaries on offer.

      • +2

Will that be included in the list of documentaries?

First question from jv that I actually want to be answered as well, is there anything good in their library?

  • +1

This will only work for new sign ups.
I already signed up using the Qantas link and then cancelled the subscription to use the longer NRMA trial. However the NRMA link will not work with an existing account, so will you have to register with new details.

Even though I had cancelled, iWonder send an email-
"As you requested, we have cancelled your account with effect from 24/11/2019. You may continue to use your iwonder account without any further charges until that date, at which point your login will no longer give you access to iwonder."

So it appears the free trail continues and you can cancel now and not have to set a reminder for Nov/ Dec.

You can still log on to your account and on the Accounts page it still says "Subscription Plan- AU Yearly Subscription", but farther down the page it does say "No Active Subscription".
Your true subscription status would be clearer if the "Subscription Plan" said "No Active Subscription"

A second concern I have is even if you cancel, on your Account details page it looks like they still have my card details which you can't delete, and it's not clear if they have also stored the CVC number, which has to be entered to sign-up. Someone knowing my card number AND the CVC is a big worry.

    • What if you typo your credit card number?

      • Tried a fake number, but can't get it to save.
Can someone else try after cancelling their subscription?

        • Tried a fake number,

          Generate a real fake number.

Don't forget Kanopy - you can easily get free credits for movies & docos if you have a library card. It lists over 3,000 documentaries as well as movies & a kids section.

      10 movies a month free.

      • +1

Even more if you are a member of multiple libraries….

        • Or if you have multiple memberships at the same library.

          • +2

@jv: Hi JV - was unaware of Kanopy till you mentioned it in a different post - I got my library card and set it up - thanks mate! Could you explain how multiple membership works in the same library please

            • +3

@Maxdax: You can set up separate Kanopy accounts for each member in your house with a library card. Then, when you reach your 10 movie limit for the month, just log into the next account…

              • @jv: Thanks jv - I can only see 5 movie limit on my account activated this month - how do you get 10?

                • @Maxdax:

                  how do you get 10?

No idea. My limit is 10.

Maybe each library is different. They have to pay a fee for this service to be available to their members.

Some libraries also allow you to access Beamafilm, which is also a film site like Kanopy.
They're both doco heavy and are fabulous.

    • Hadn't heard of that one. Great tip - thanks!

    weird selection for doco service
no space not much science in general

curiositystream is better, though not great.

  • Forgot to cancel :-(

  • The NRMA code didn’t work for me.

    But I used this link:
    https://iwonder.com/telstratv

And was offered $0.99 for the first 3 months which ends up cheaper than the Qantas deal if you persist beyond 60 days.
