    I imagine the Active noise-cancelling uses up a fair bit of battery power, so the batteries are larger & heavier so they are better resting around your neck than hanging and pulling on the earbuds.
    This way they allow for some slack on the earbuds wires, I think it is good design.

    I have the cheaper WI-C200 model Sony BT earphones which are nice because the battery is far away from the earbuds and rests on the sides of your neck, but I still experience some pulling sometimes if they are positioned on the neck incorrectly.
    The design of the WI-600N (product in this deal) would avoid any problems with positioning.

    The worst design is when the battery is hanging too-close to the earbud like this model.
    Many bad reviews about the weight of the battery pulling the earbud out of your ear.

  Alternatively, could look at the Plantronics Backbeat 410 I think? I think the performance is pretty similar but can be had for a bit cheaper. Purchased mine for … 135 on eBay?

  The ANC is worthless though, sound quality is pretty decent.
