PayPal Suspended Pending Verification. Anyone Else Affected?

PayPal have suspended my account pending verification. They say it is because of Australian Money laundering act of 2008.

I have had this account for years and it has been suspended without prior notification.
They say they have been instructed to suspend all Australian PayPal accounts pending verification.

Is this happening to anyone else?

They say they can only send me an email on Thursday detailing the info I will need to provide them so my account can be un-suspended!

This is the most ridiculous thing I have come across.

I asked to speak to her manager but she says there isn't anyone else I can speak to. So I am stuck.

Any thoughts?

    Mine doesn't seem to be affected. If true, it will be quite a big workload for them to process every single account.

    I have had this account for years and it has been suspended without prior notification.

    Suspending account without warning is how they catch dodgy users (not saying you're one of them). Provide them with what they want and see what happens.

      as above, I've had the id verification triggered by getting a balance over $1k, such as from an ebay sale.

      Yes, over $1000.
      They could have sent the paperwork without suspending it abruptly.
      A brief review of my account would have shown completely normal activity.

        Get onto the fos (or whatever it's called nowadays). They will sort it out, PayPal are just being dicks, as usual.

          Yep, they did this to me and I had to use the financial ombudsman. Got it back with some additional penalty due to PayPal acting unfairly.

    Are you willing to provide more details like whether it is a stealth paypal account?

    Apparently the name has to match what it on the connected linked bank account or credit card now. It's because they do matching for the ATO now.

    They re-activated it today.

    Thanked me for the info, even although I never sent anything!
