  • Can someone advise which one is better to buy?

    QA55Q60RAWXXY Samsung 55 Inch Series 6 Q60 QLED 4K TV
    or
    UA55RU8000WXXY Samsung Series 8 55" RU8000 4K UHD TV

The ratings and reviews seem to be very similar. I am confused!
    Thanks.

I bought faced with this same option and went with the Q60. Its a decent TV if you dont have the budget for an OLED.

        • agree a qled is what you buy if you cant quite afford the oled and want something slightly better then a standard 4k lcd led backlight tv

        • Nice! I got it, too.
A question for you @datzed. Where did you buy that from? How many remote controls were in the box? Only the smart one? Or there were two remote controls inside the box: smart and universal?

          • @mkowarkski: Bought from appliance online. Only 1 remote. Do they come with two?

            • @datzed: Watched an unboxing video of the TV in youtube. It had two; one smart and one universal. It actually has two spaces for the remotes inside the pack in the box!
              This is strange!

        • There isn't just one model of QLED, the Q60 is the entry level and the cheapest. The Q90R is the top of the line 4k QLED and you'll probably find it costs more than an OLED.

They are pretty similar in many ways however the application of Quantum Dots on the Q60R has a pretty substantial impact.

However neither of them are bright enough to properly present HDR so don’t waste your time and money if that’s what you’re looking for.

QA it's Qled, UA isn't Qled technology.

    Go with QA

    Better blacks on qled q60

  • Just scored the Q60 as a warranty replacement last month. Blacks looked much better than the RU8000 on store. Absolutely love it.

    This isn't a Hisense?

    • +14

      It’s also not a tomato. What’s your point ?

      • It was a joke since OzBargain loves a Hisense R8 or R7.

Ehh while it seems to be a good TV, I see lots of complaints here to… Though mostly about Harmony remotes I think

          • @Salmando: Yeah worst thing about the new sams tvs are those bloody small few button ergonomic tv remotes they come with …just another reason to make you get the lg/sony/pana oled tho lol.

  • Great find OP. I just have to. Would regret not.

Both retailers say $55 delivery for me.

Purchased from both before, excellent delivery time-frames and service like for like (and both have delivered overnight previous occasions despite their different state based locations. Super impressive).

    • Looks like Appliance Central's postage depends on location. $40 for Sydney, $55 elsewhere that I checked.

Thanks heaps OP, grabbed one from my local (Videopro).

    • I don't know about that. VideoPro uses TNT Express and they are notorious for their service.

  • I think once 65" hit this price I'll upgrade my 55" LED, very hard to justify a new tv for the same size

    • I know that feeling.
Got a 75 inch to replace (more accurate can't be bothered transporting) a 70 inch.

My mind won't let me buy smaller, even if it's better. I actually feel a little guilty not getting 85… But dat money

      • +1

I use to sell tvs and picture quality over inch size always. Without being silly. Doesn't matter how cheap and big a tv is if it doesn't look as good as one nearly half its size.

        • As a user of tvs I disagree.
In store the better tvs look great compared to the cheaper ones. But at home with nothing to compare it to, bigger size is definitely more enjoyable than quality. I have a 32" LG in the bedroom that only gets turned on a few times a year, always prefer to watch the cheapo 65" TCL in the living room.

        • +1

          Respectfully disagree.
I find most of the time the quality drop in the larger screens isn't outdone by the more immersive large screen.

I'm far happier and more impressed with my man rooms 70 inch 1080p edge lit sharp TV than I am with the 4k 55 inch LG OLED I have in the living room. Picture quality is definitely better with the OLED, but everyone prefers the sharp.

  • A question for those who bought this TV. How many remote controls are in the box? Only the smart one? Or there a tre wo remote controls inside the box: smart and universal?
I watched a video in youtube. There were two… but I have only the smart remote inside the box!!! I bought from The Good Guys!

  • appliancecentral has it at $1004 using POLLEN20 + $40 Postage

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/QA55Q60RAWXXY-Samsung-55-Inch-Se…

  • $85 delivery to WA. urgh.

  • Link price is $1,350 and del $55 and not as stated?

    • Still works here. Whatever code is taking $55 off isn't POLLEN20 ($55 != 20% of $1350).

  • Neither post Aus-wide :(

  • Any 75" equivalents on sale anywhere? Good prive but looking for something a bit bigger!

  • I am abou tto pull trigger on this for $1516. However, saw TCL QLed for $884 now i got thinking if samsung is worth the money?
