  • How is this a deal

    • +7

Pretty good deal if you looking for quality and stability. This is the high end product line of Thinkpad and don't compare it with E model for the configuration.

      • Agreed. Very high quality build. Keyboard is fantastic. Screen a bit dull but satisfactory.

    Terrible deal

    • It's actually quite a good deal for this laptop, $400 cheaper than on Lenovo's site. You can't compare the price/performance of business laptops like latitudes and T series ThinkPads with budget consumer stuff like Inspirons / E series ThinkPads / Ideapads (though Lenovo have done their best to gimp this model with soldered RAM and a non-removable battery).

The 16GB/512GB T490 is $1915 from Lenovo.com.au, so $1499 for the same thing is pretty good.

  • Is this laptop ram/ ssd upgradable yourself?

    • +1

I think it ships with a soldered ram stick with another slot available for non-soldered stick

      • Have read this one is more difficult than the previous Ts… something to do with clips need to be removed/replaced in a specific order.

        • It's difficult to remove the base plate. There clips all around the side. I installed an additional 16gb Crucial 2666mhz stick and works well.

  • Why does Lenovo Australia suck so much? There are so many Lenovo laptops that have upgradable screens but they will not offer it, e.g. this model is supposed to carry a 1440p screen that is 500 nits.

    • Because not enough people buy it

    • Coz AU market is pretty limited~~~Not only Lenovo, nearly all laptop supplier behave sucks in AU, limited choice or same choice at shockable high price

    3 years Onsite Warranty,nice!

    • Yes, this is pretty good value. My previous Lenovo Thinkpads only came with 1 year warranty.

  • Prices dropped $1276 / $1439.20 using POUNCE20 code.

  • Solid device. I bought one. Note that there is no backlit keyboard in this particular build. The screen is also the stock FHD screen. To be honest, the screen is a bit dull but at that price, I would still recommend the purchase. Another thing to consider is that you cannot install a WWAN module (even though is has a free M2 slot) as the device does not have the antennae built in.
