    Freshly Roasted Coffee Beans

    How fresh?

    • CO2 popping fresh

    • +1

Dude roasts them himself in a shed in North Adelaide, lovely guy. I get mine hand delivered by him in a van, and it's fresher than the Pablo & Rustys stuff for me.

  • Giving it a go - my usual is manna beans but this is quite a bit cheaper…

  • Aww man, I just placed an order two hours ago - still great value. Went with the 1kg strong sampler this time, I've had the premium a couple of times already.

  • +1

So, it's a 10% discount? The post title says 20%….

Edit: I see it's been fixed now & worth noting that price for the 1kg premium sampler looks to be already reduced from $20.90 to $18.80, which then reduced to $16.92 with the discount code.

BTW I have ordered & look forward to trying it out!

  • +2

Really nice coffee at great price. I've been ordering from these guys for almost a year now. Would highly recommend getting their premium or strong sampler pack for anyone looking to give it a try.

    • would you recommend the premium for someone who is starting out making their own coffee and figuring out what type of beans and roast they prefer? looks like this has a good mix of strong and mild and could be the ticket.

      • Yes! Premium has a good mix of medium and strong blends. My favorites are crema ultimo and espresso superbo. I tend to order premium or strong sampler so I get some variety each time even though I have tasted most of their blends except the single origin coffee.

You could try Jasper coffee for a wider range but they are way too expensive to be experimenting with.

        • yeah i paid $16 for 250g of a local canberra roasters blend recently - when i saw 4x250g variety for $16.95 + 8 I was thinking this is a bit of a no brainer! Also chasing a good (but cheap) grinder (hand-wound is ok if it's not noisy), i'm using a delter press.

          • @Wilburre: Would recommend getting one with conical burrs instead. I have one of the cheaper sunbeam ones and it's been serving me well with occasional cleaning for coffee oils. You need at least some precision and consistency for your coffee grounds to yield consistent taste and crema if you have an espresso machine. (I recommend getting sunbeam 7000 because it has both temperature and pressure gauges)

About time these guys got on OZB - Very serious competition for the other roasters on here at a cheaper price.
The beans are very good and fresh! The Strong Sampler is my choice, the premium is awesome too at this price - I very much doubt you will be disappointed.!

    • They have been on before. Tried it and not bad for the price even with the postage cost. Well worth a try.

  • Thanks OP. Bought the CREMA ULTIMO. Looking forward to trying this!

  • Hey guys I’ve started making my own cold brew at home and have been thinking about trying Sicilia for a little while. Would you guys recommend their premium or strong sampler pack for cold brew without milk? Torn between which to try out. Thanks in advance!

  • +1

Just ordered the strong sampler pack.
Can't wait to try it out now. Sounds promising

  • +1

I tried internet coffee with Bada bean and it was so bad… is this a similar story?

    • +2

Bada bean organic roast is a horrible coffee bean however it’s not fair to other roasters if you use them as a reference.

      • Well that is why I am asking, why isn't it fair? I use a similar product as a metric - what's wrong with that?

It was really bad the people were super lovely but each batch they sent me was horrible, bitter and oily

        • I guess for me I’ve tried heaps of coffee from many different roasters . So I rated Bada one of the lowest . I guess if you’re new to coffee . Bada bean is not a good benchmark. My fav coffee right now is Quest coffee I’m using the Costa Rica beans. But there Nicaraguan beans is pretty decent too. There are many great rosters. You just had a bad start.

          • @maverickjohn: Yeah well I'm sure I did have a bad start, hence I asked for a comparison :)

    • I've read a few books on coffee roasting and can't say the ordering medium was ever mentioned as a factor.

      • But I want to order it off the internet & to do that I need to find one on the internet that is good don't I

        • Give killer coffee a try. Its strong and has a great aroma. All round good value too. Stick with their regular roast unless you like bitter dark roast.

        • Coffee snobs website does roast to order. Best beans I have tried but more expensive. Bay Beans is cheaper and half decent, but not as good as coffee snobs.

  • +1

I'm a little bit sceptical about tall this internet coffee bean business but I'll give a shot for <$30/kg incl. delivery

  • Bought! I ran out of beans today, so good timing. Previously bought Bada Bean Aroma and wasn't a fan.

    • +1

Doesn’t sound like good timing at all unless you expect delivery by tomorrow!

      • i have some ground stashed at work ;)

  • Bought. Well done OP

  • Bought 5kg, only $5 delivery fee.

  • Can I request to be sent to me ground?

    • +1

They'll grind any beans for you for $2/kg, just add it to your cart. It's under ground coffee.

  • How do these compare to Aldi's Lazzio Medium Roast? Sorry serious question here as I've only just started on my coffee journey. I know Aldi Lazzio is an OzB favorite and I've quite enjoyed it myself.

    • +2

FYI if you have not tried it yet give the Lazzio Brazil SERRA NEGRA (Creamy, toffee, milk chocolate with a bittersweet cocoa finish) a try, we love it!!! but I am ordering from here seeing as it is about the same price, see my post below.

  • How does everyone make their coffee? Can you use these with an Aeropress?

  • Someone recommend me an automatic espresso machine? That’s fairy cost savvy

  • Purchased the coffee below came to about 14. per k (including shipping), going on trust that the coffee is great inorder to get a real Oz bargain

    We only drink cappuccino's here!

    • +1

You'll have to have cappuccino on an IV drip to get through all those beans before they go 'stale'

      • I freeze them so they stay fresh longer.

        • lol freeze them. That’s not how you do coffee James dean

        • Freezing is a bad idea because it can introduce moisture to the bean, which alters its chemical properties dramatically. Those frozen beans won't taste as good. Generally, if its a 2 adult household, you'd only want to buy 1kg at a time unless you drink huge amounts of coffee.

        • I've read, chatted with coffee roasters and tried it myself. General consensus I've found is that beans are at their best about 5 days after roasting and okay for about 5 weeks at room temperature. Freezing keeps them longer, but I always take the packet out of the freezer and leave it to warm to room temperature before opening, so as to prevent condensation forming on the beans.

  • Bought one, since my manna beans still not arrive yet.

  • Really want to try this.. But just bought 2kg of roasted beans.

When will this promotion end? Happy to buy now and delay shipping?

  • FYI, looks like the discount only applies to beans. Didn't apply to the $2/kg charge to grind the beans, or the 1kg frappe mix I was looking at buying.

  • Nice ! Mainly buy from coffee shops ($15-18 per250gm). .

Any recommendations for a manual grinder ? ProbBly
Not keen to spend $$$ on an electric Grindr given my minimalist stovetop coffee maker setuup. =D

    • +1

I bought a manual burr grinder from Aldi for $15 a few weeks ago. It works fine for my camping stovetop coffee maker setup, but be aware that it's quite a bit of work to grind it manually. It takes a few minutes of quite serious effort to grind about 30g of coffee (enough for a 100ml of espresso).

      • +1

Just attach a drill to the grinder. Does it in seconds ;)

    • +1

I'd recommend the Rhino Coffee Gear Compact Coffee Hand Grinder

    • +1

I have the Rhino Gear small grinder and I like it. If you're making big batches or not travelling with it, the large one may be easier.

I put a rubber band around mine to add some extra grip, helps a lot.

  • +1

Just to let fellow OzBargainers know that I just used discount code OZBARGAIN10 while checking out and it was applied successfully. So, it still works! I don't know why it says EXPIRED on top of this page?!

    • Thanks mate! That made my decision to order.

  • +1

Bugger just saw this and it's expired! Can you stretch the promotion a bit longer and I am keen to have it in my cart.

    • Same here - at checkout and looking to order but code not valid

    • same :-(

    • Same :( another deal please!

  • Am I correct that the $8 shipping won't deliver to parcel locker?

  • +2

I HATE Fastway Couriers. Kinda pissed I paid $8 only for them to lie and say they attempted delivery (have cameras and was home all day) and now I have to go to a collection point. Problem is, the F***ING tracking number doesn't state which collection point.

Please choose a less pathetic courier.

  • Never tried them, but code is already expired :(

  • Negging this deal because:

    1) Slow delivery: They used Fastway couriers who are probably the slowest, most unreliable and lowest-rated couriers in Australia. After ordering on 8 October, it took 12 days and multiple phone calls and support tickets for Fastway to deliver. And this was just Adelaide to central Brisbane - It's not like they were delivering to Woop Woop and there were no missed delivery attempts. The beans were sitting in the Brisbane depot for 5 days before the driver even picked it up. And their online tracking system was not updated from 9 October (Adelaide depot) until the day of delivery.

    2) Sicilia did not respond (after 2 business days) to my complaint about the delivery.

    3) Sicilia didn't send a pack of Organic Forte as was promised, but sent a second pack of Espresso Di Lusso instead.

    • +3

Sicilia got in contact as the result of my post above with a sincere apology and a generous offer to make good.
As a consequence I'm revoking my neg vote.

      • +3

        +1 for customer service
