I recently paid approx $870 for premium economy with JAL to Tokyo (Narita), each way. Best flight of my life.
Flight attendants go out of their way, large seats, massive legroom, Semi recline without leaning back in to the person behind. 2-3-2 seating config.
I can never sleep on flights however slept like a baby.
Can’t speak highly enough of JAL.

    • How'd you get it so cheap?

      • No idea. Just booked through JAL at the time. I travelled in Sept so may not have been a peak time

Is $1750 return really that cheap to Narita in Y+

Just beware of any code share flights with British Airways for the London leg. Definitely the worst airline I have flown with. Quite possibly the worst customer service I have ever received from any company. They promised $2,000 flight delay compensation 3 months ago but have failed to pay anything or even acknowledge recent communication. This is not an isolated case. They are well known for it

What has to happen to get in the ballpark of a $2k flight delay compensation!?

      • +1

There’s an EU law that provides set levels of compensation based on time delay and flight distance. For a long distance flight delayed more than four hours it’s 600 EUR per person. So, for a couple, it’s almost $2,000.

This might be worth a read if you have had a flight delay into or from an EU airport. You can backdate the claim back to 2013.

I was planning a trip to England in July 2020 (to attend a family wedding) and girlfriend and I always wanted to visit Japan. Thought I’d take a look at this deal and ended up booking:

    Syd - Tokyo
    10 days stopover
    Tokyo - Manchester
10 days (wedding and visit family)
*make our own way to Helsinki (cheap Euro flight I’ll have to book)
    Helsinki - Sydney (via Tokyo)

**had to play around with dates and flights a bit to get the best price, but there were lots of flights available around mid year 2020.

Total cost was $2300 per person. 23 day total trip. This is an absolute bargain considering normally Premium economy to Europe is minimum $3500. JAL premium is supposedly one of the best in the world. It includes lounge access at all airports and all the other perks. The Tokyo stopover was also included for free! The only downside is we’ll need to get from England to Helsinki for the return flight, but I’ll find a cheap euro flight and might spend a couple of nights in Helsinki to check it out.

So pumped for this trip! Thanks OP

    • I fly often. I've flown with JAL Premium economy before. For the price its a bargain.
I've flown many business class flights, a few premium economy, these days I just do economy.
The lounge in Tokyo is excellent. I recently flew to Europe on Qatar economy, cost me $1900.
Which aircraft did you book? I try book 380, 350 and 330, in that order. I hate boeing.
