Check the Lenovo forums, there were a fair bunch with dead displays and speakers etc to this model. I had to refund my 10 inch Lenovo and got the JBL link instead.
I know i can't speak for everyone by saying that but it is something to keep in mind

I use this 8" Lenovo in my kitchen. Works great! No problems at all with the display or speakers or anything.
I also have an Echo Spot and a few Echo Dots. Decided to stick with Google as it works with everything I already use, e.g. Google Photos, YouTube, etc.get concierge, that will just replace or refund you if you have issues
This or the Lenovo smart clock with google assistant?
Depends on where you want to sit it. This 8" has a camera, bigger screen and the ability to play YouTube. The smart clock is more designed to be on a bedside table or desk - it has a 4" screen and no camera and can't play video. I have the smart clock on my bedside table and love it.
I am considering one of these 8" for the kitchen though to replace the home mini in there.
Does this have a built in browser for bringing up recipes?
I don't think so, I believe it just uses the google search from a voice command and brings results like the 'Google' app on mobile.

I have been using the 8” since launch with no issue, picked up the nest hub Max for the kitchen and apart from facial recognition and screen they work very much the same. I’d have to give the edge to Lenovo for sound but it’s a shame Eros always preference like design

Torn between this and the Nest Hub Max which is >double the price.
I'll rather get 2x Lenovo's. Only have mine for a day but its really nice. Did a lot of reading and with the latest update it's not a bad device. Wanted to go all Google in the house but the price doesn't justify what you getting.

Have mostly google smart devices at home - homes and lenovo smart clocks, but do need something to cover off the kitchen - something like this would be good for recipes and others action in there. Still toying up with this product or dipping my toe into the Alexa range and grabbing an Amanzon Echo Show. Size wise, this product sits in between the Echo Show 5 (5.5") and the Echo Show (10")…
