  • IPS TFT LCD….ok…

can u tell us if the ram inside is regular notebook stick? is it swappable

  • +1

Resistive screen, but otherwise for the price looks decent.

    • +3

Agreed. If they did it for free shipping I'd even consider it a bargain. But adding $28 for shipping is a total rip-off.

      • or have pick up or something
        or even cheaper postage
        28 bcuks…..

        • Hi Guys, Postage is that high because we send out Australia Express post and it only fits the 5kg bags which are $18 and we put extra charge on for warranties.

    • The shipping just killed it.

  • old hardware and Android 2.1 -negative

    • +1

But compare it to the MyTab and Telstra tablet. I haven't looked in detail at it, but the specs appear to be slightly better than the MyTab.

      • doesn't seem to talk of a camera (front or back) not that big of an issue
slightly large and heaviler (but screen larger)
says andriod 2.1 (unsure if u can upgrade to 2.2 or otehr mods)
        no 3G

        how muich is postage?

        Slightly better than MyTab? LOL

  • spec seems little bit better than Telstra Tab and Optus Tab, minus 3G and GPS, but I am more interested to know if it support rooting…

    • I asked on their facebook page (where I saw the deal) they said they will ask the engineers if there is any roms available to upgrade it to 2.2+

      but no reply yet

    • also nothing on camera or bluetooth

they do seem to have a USB port
      also 28 bucks for shipping

      less RAM?

  • +3

    Shipping Price: $28.00

    • +6

you negged it because you are "no sure it is a good deal".

      lame

  • -2

Add 30% for shipping. There's your fail right there.

  • and thats 28 cbusk for each one you buy
buy two and its 56 bucks postage….

  • This is a rebadged SmartQ r10. SmartQ are a Chinese manufacturer. I used to own an earlier product a couple a years ago and while it wasn't bad for a Chinese made and designed device, it was still below par compared to the well known manufacturers.
    http://en.smartdevices.com.cn/Products/R10/

edit: review (in chinese) here, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YoLYMbM4t3w

    • mytab, mytouch, smartq they all made by Chinese manufacturers but smartq spec is much better.$100 delivered will be a winner.

  • Good deal, but I agree, postage needs to be cheaper. OP, can you offer the option of postal insurance on top of $18?

And have you looked into click and send? You can sign up on the Australia Post websites. It's Auspost regular with a tracking number, pretty cheap and you get decent discounts (I think)

  • -2

"we put extra charge on for warranties"

You charge extra shipping for the warranty? W-T-F ?

People here at Ozbargain HATE getting reamed for falsely loaded shipping.

"it only fits the 5kg bags"

Well that's baloney too. So ship it in a box!
What is the total weight? Being a hand held device and making allowances fro the charger/manual/accessories it would 2Kg or less, I would bet.
$10 would cover that any day of the week add $2.75 for registered.

    $28?
    Bull-eth Shit-eth.

    • +3

Spoken to the guy and postage is now $18 :)

  • -2

Postage is now $18 at cost price of the Aus post bag.

@ KIng Tightarse - We only use these express bags because it is fast and reliable. We dont use boxes and this is how we conduct our deliveries.

    • Now I feel ripped off. I bought it when it was still $28 :(

    • ROFL what kind of bag are you using? A rubbish bag?

Express post bags are $11.30 for 3KG. What a rip.

  • shipping still shows up as 28, almost bought, bring the shipping down and u sell 1

    • Fixed now, Please check it again

  • pics? one on the site not working

  • "CPU 720MHz ARM11 with 3D acceleration"

That's a winner right there compared to the Optus myTab.

Would be nice to know if the screen is good for use (Telstra was terrible, apparently).

If this tab can be rooted, then the 2.1 rom that it comes with will be just fine.

    • I am currently running MyTab at 748 MHz CPU with the latest CM7 (3 July 2011 release).

  • Not a bad deal - SmartQ aren't a "no-name" brand either, so it's likely that they will keep it up on Android updates. Lack of 3g is a bit of a shame, but otherwise seems like a good bit of kit at a fair price.

    • 256mb limits it to 2.2 and below though doesn't it?

  • someone get one and tell us if its any good!

    • -1

Smart Q is the earlist producer of tablet pc in China.
R10 is good price for it's 10 inch ips screen. There was a promotion in china a few days ago selling R10 for A$120 (790 yuan) sold out very quickly.
If you are after a tab mainly for reading, this is the best price choice for ebooks and scaned pdf books.
If you want a gaming tab this is not good.

      • +1

Dude, please tell us you're not a sockpuppet…

        • +1

          StewBalls, he ain't no sockpuppet.
Just because he became a member of this forum 13 minutes before he wrote that post does not infer any thing sneaky. or sock puppetty.

          (start negging)

        • Lulz! :)

    • Will let you guys know… when I get it. Ordered one yesterday with $28postage :(

      • Make sure to check for backlight bleed.

These screens look like ipad2 rejects, which judging by the terrible screen probems on the iPad makes me wonder how bad the rejects must be.

        • @$99 it'd have to be pretty damn bad to worry about light bleed on this device; $600+ iPad yeah, $99 cheapie…I don't think so Tim! ;)

  • I would strongly advice buying the MyTab over this. First of all, it is a reputable brand. It also has a huge developer / user community behind it if you want to flash a ROM or do anything more with it. So for the same price, why NOT go with the Optus MyTab? I'm certainly not convinced by this SmartQ tablet coupled with this dodgey sales rep.

    • +1

So for the same price, why NOT go with the Optus MyTab?

Just where exactly are people supposed to get them??? There hasn't been stock anywhere in weeks!

This is a good price, please point us to a better 10" ereader with an IPS screen; or the long lost King Solomon's Mines of MyTab stocks that only you seem to know about???

[edit] Forgot to mention, this link may help prospective purchasers: http://www.slatedroid.com/topic/14483-firmware-smartq-r10-al…

    • Agree - but where can we still find MyTab for $99? Last checked all sources - sold out!

  • +1

    order one myself
    Did some research :
    1. this is a discontinued product. the newest one is Smartq 10 (or T10)
    2. relatively slow, don't support big 3d games, no android 2.2 support till now. firmware update no hope
    3. nice ips screen. for this price it could a good choice for ebook reading and video.
    4. if u want compact& cheap all arounder choose mytab v9 instead of this

  • +1

Bought one on 14/07/11. Money was deducted from Paypal. This morining I was advised, I will get it tomorrow, then I am been advised it is sold out.

    Very bad service.

  • Same issue with my order. :( Bad service.
