Was looking for a gift for my niece @ xmas time, spotted this deal, looks good, ends tomorrow night(10th) at midnight as a part of the digi deals promotion.

Office Works probably wont price match as it is an online deal only.

If you've got yourself one of the new iPads but are reluctant to splurge on the Apple Pencil, this might be a more palatable option price-wise.

It'll work on iPad, the new iPad Air, the new iPad mini, and is rumoured to work with the new 2018 iPads Pro once the new iOS update hits in the next few days.

  • What's the Pros and Cons of this vs the Pencil?

    • +2

One feature lacking is the pressure sensitivity

    • By looks of it, its definitely more suited to children than actual content creators.

Features - Apple Pencil - Logitech Crayon

Connection - Bluetooth - Wireless frequency
      Battery - 12 hours - 7 hours
Pressure Sensitivity - Yes - No
Tilt Support - Yes - Yes
Palm Rejection - Yes - Yes
      On/Off button - No - Yes

Apple pencil(gen1) requires you to plug it into the ipad to charge, this one can uncap and plug into the cable, instead of being round, some people say it has a more comfortable grip because it's wider. This does lack the touch/pressure sensitivity, but it doesn't roll off your table as easily, its almost half the RRP price of the first gen pencil at $145. Would be good to confirm if it works on your ipad before purchasing as it uses wireless tech not Bluetooth.

      • Btw, apple pencil 1 comes with a double ended female adaptor in the packaging that lets you charge straight from the charger.

Also you can get it for $129 delivered from the apple education store (no checks of eligibility applies). Dont forget 1.5% cashback!

Source: have used both, bought the apple pencil last week

        • I see, that it does come with an additional adapter that can be used to charge it with a cable as per;

          https://www.apple.com/au/shop/product/MK0C2ZA/A/apple-pencil…

I was not aware of this, it is convenient, but also it looks semi inconvenient as not many people like adapters as they can be lost/another item to carry around. Good to know there's a way around this issue though.

        • I leave my adaptor permanently attached. Cap served no purpose other than for it to get lost.

  • Got to ask - is there even cheaper alternative than this (say from Amazon, ebay etc)?

    What a good uncle/aunt.

  • Will this work on a 2016 iPad Pro?

    • +1

No, only on 2018 models and later

      • Thank you.
