    Wasn't it $50 before?

I guess they're finally catching on that new customers only sign up to get the bonus then close their accounts. It would be nice if one of the banks actually rewarded long-term customers with some bonus or incentive.

    • What! you expect a bank to care for its customers? 😀

Must be some young idealistic dreamer!

(just jesting in case someone takes it to heart)

    • Because complete freedom account has an ongoing cost(unless one deposits $2000), unlike many online bank accounts with 0 monthly fee.

If this is the exact same thing as the last deal, which it sure looks like, the move would be to open the acc and deposit $2000 immediately, ie $500 min as per terms of bonus and $2000 as the min to avoid the $5 acc keeping fee for the first 30 days. Set a reminder to dump another $2000 in after the first 30 days is up to avoid the 2nd month's account keeping fee and keep it all going to the 45 day threshold + whatever time it takes for the $40 bonus to show. Then close, unless you feel it's worth keeping open.

I haven't combed the T&Cs but for someone who has, is there a min time the $500 has to remain in there for the bonus, or the $2000 to avoid acc. keeping fees, or can you just yoyo in that 2 grand a the start and pull it out again/do the same the following month?

…The things I do for forty bucks.*

    • Although having another bank card may allow you to open a bunch of other free trial accounts, ie Netflix, Spotify etc…
  • Tried signing up for account. ID verification failed with my passport and driver's license. Needed to go to a branch to verify, but there are none in my state.

Had to call them up to close the account, just to ensure I wasn't charged with any account keeping fees (the account was apparently opened, but ID was not verified).

    Waste of time.
