$10 PS3 2x SingStar Microphones (USB) + Game

410

I found this bargain when I went to GAME store in castle hill town centre. They said that they have too many stocks of this item and decided to put 90% off on them. It's a good bargain!! The game is quite lame, but the microphones that go with them are GREAT!

Has been available for a few weeks now…part of their Insane Sale:

    http://www.game.com.au/UserFiles/WebStores/2011/InsaneSale/I…

  • not singstar mics by the way

    • yeah, i was going to say they dont look like sing star mics, op should change the title.

      • They don't look like singstar mics in the photo because they use the same one across all platforms, PS3, Xbox and Wii

    • The cover in the photo has "2x Singstar Microphones Included" printed on it.

    • +3

      They are singstar mics
      I can confirm.

    • +2

singstar mics they are :) game sucks btw

      • +1

$1 trade in value at Game :)

    • the guy opened up the box for me and inside were corded singstar mics….not the wireless logitech ones advertised on the catalogue

  • Work with PC?

    • Yes they will.
The two mics both use 3.5mm jacks.
It comes with a converter so that they can be plugged into a PS3 (or even 2) via USB interface.

      • So to PC have to use 3.5mm jacks? Or also OK with USB?

        • Not sure, haven't tested that. (Don't really see a need, unless you're planing on using both mics at once?)

        • That's what I mean to use both at the same time.

        • Plugged the converter thing into my computer it said drivers were installed but the mics don't work (I'm running Win7)

        • Just tried in XP - The USB thingo adds a USB driver (automatically), which makes a device named "USBMIC". The mics "kind-of' work in the Sound Test…

Control Panel > Sound and Audio Devices > Voice tab - then click "Test Hardware" and they work.

But in Sound Recorder, the mic acts oddly, only works occasionally. This seems to be because the USB thingo loads as a "CAPTURE" device rather than a microphone. And thus Windows has trouble understanding which input source to use, and gets confused.

Vista, Windows7 and/or better sound programs may handle it OK, but I didn't bother testing further. I really don't think there is much use mucking about with USB when you can just plug the things directly into the 3.5mm Microphone socket.

        • To use 2 at one in a 3.5mm socket, you need a splitter. But it needs to be wired differently to most splitters that are sold for using 2 headphones (in parallel)

It's hard to find online, but easy to make if you can solder…

          PLUG
          •Tip - Left channel
          •Ring - Right channel
          •Sleeve - Common (ground)

          SOCKET 1 (Left)
          •Tip - Microphone
          •Sleeve - Common (ground)

          SOCKET 2 (Right)
          •Tip - Microphone
          •Sleeve - Common (ground)

Easiest way is to buy (or use existing) 3.5mm plug to 2xRCA cable, chop off the RCA's and wire 2 x 3.5mm sockets on there instead. Example: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/3-5mm-2-RCA-/190483892962

  • Should've posted this when I picked up my set. My local store literally had a WHOLE shelf full!
But I thought it was already posted.

  • anyone knows if the 2 included mics are wired or wireless?

    • +1

      Wired

      • How long is the wire?

        • -4

How long is a piece of string?

          Ok I don't actually know…

        • +1

Twice as long as from the middle to the end.

        • Anyone knows how long is it? Hopefully it's long enough to reach the couch from TV.

        • +2

          The wire is 2.5m
Giving you probably a 2m range sitting or 1.5m standing?

        • +3

you can use a USB extension cord to reach your couch

ordered 2 one for my little niece and nephew and another for me when Im drunk :P

  • Anyone know where I can buy the square piece from that the mic's plug into? It's like a junction box? Kids went and lost it!

    • The cheapest I can find on a quick search is this one from DealExtreme

      http://www.dealextreme.com/p/usb-to-2-x-6-3mm-audio-adapter-…

US$6.40 - but are your mics 3.5mm or 6.3mm (large 1/4") plugs like this suits?

ALSO NOTE USER COMMENTS - seems it doesn't work on Xbox or Wii, so may not be much use for PS either? LOL

On eBay they cost more that this deal >> http://tinyurl.com/67jkrpy

So, better off buying new Microphone set on this deal or the Hut one that Steptoe posted below at <$6.

    • +1

Just buy another set, only $10

    • Selling at Auction on eBay for under $11 (99c with one bid)

But the Mics alone (without the game) are worth about $20 LOL

    • +1

That is the game only without any included mics.

  • Yeah I Bought this a while back at robina towncenter GAME, and was amazed.. $10! what the.. but the game is crap but the mics are awesome.. if only u could do 4 player singstar… :(

    • Yer I have seen it there too but thought it may be a waste of $10. Does the game work in the way it says it does?

      • more important, if the game is really crap (crap or not, just not my cup of tea), what can i do with the microphone? chat with people online? or use for any other decent games?

        • I am only buying the game for the Mics. We have a Wii, and there are a variety of karaoke games for PS and Wii that can use these Mics. Apart from Karaoke, the mics are pretty much useless.

        • thanks llama.

Already have the mics so aren't going to bite on this. But The Michael Jackson Experience on Wii looks very cheap to me:

    http://www.game.com.au/michael-jackson-the-experience/ninten…

  • I got myself one :-) thanks for posting the deal

  • i can see why our mic's havent been selling lately
    bloody game!

    :)

Definetely a good deal, its way below cost for a deal like this

  • Just received my delivery from Game. The quality of the Mics is REALLY good. Nice and heavy, sturdy!

But my Wii's USB Loader just shat itself, so I can't load anything off the hard drive! So I have NFI whether they work in the Wii or not (there is no reason why they shouldn't, providing you load an original game or use the correct IOS like 223)

  • Glad to hear that someone received their item from Game. Personally I'm adding them to my list of places to never buy from again. Stock levels are unreliable - seems to be a growing trend in online buying that is going to affect the reputation of those companies who can't get it right.

    Email:
Unfortunately our warehouse has had too many orders for the amount of stock we have on hand for Michael Jackson The Experience. Our system did not register this as quickly as we needed it to and so therefore it could not be taken off the web in time to stop customers from making orders.

I am sorry to say that I have needed to cancel your order because of this. I have refunded the amount of $9 into your account. Please be advised that this can take up to 72hrs to appear in your account.

Again my apologies for not being able to fill your order at this time.
