    Work on induction cook top?

    • Hobs compatibility GAS - ELECTRIC - CERAMIC - HALOGEN

      • So that's a no?

        • +3

          Yes :P

Edit: don’t get if you have induction

    • +2

The frypans look like the same ones as those in the Gourmet Anodised Induction 5 piece set.

Rang Tefal Customer Service and they confirmed that the frypan is indeed induction cooktop compatible. (I asked about the E9170712, 30cm model - the others should be the same.)

      • +2

https://www.tefal.com.au/c/Gourmet/p/R-gourmet-anodised appears to be aluminium which is not a conductor therefore wouldn't work on an induction hob

        • It still could, provided it has an "induction" layer at the bottom. The 5 piece Gourmet set specifically mentions this, but the individual frypan page you linked to (which I didn't, and still can't, find by searching the website) does not, and omits induction from the list of compatible hobs.

So much for trusting the idiot I spoke to at Customer Service. One piece of useful (and possibly true) info he did give though was that the frypan will have "Induction" stamped on the bottom if it's induction compatible.

        • Aluminium is most definitely a conductor. It's often used instead of copper in overhead main voltage lines as well as the traces on PCB boards.

          • @mauricem: Good catch! Completely missed the fact that Chucky84 wrote conductor instead of ferromagnetic.

Thanks OP No stock in WA. Bought 2 delivery

Hi OP, they have the knife block on sale again, I am not sure that helps.

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-Wiltshire-W1081-Laser-Block-…

    • nice find..

    • is it from $19.95 to $11.2 + shipping?

      • Yes. (Or just $11.20 with C&C.)

        Deal posted here.

For anyone who ends up buying it - is this model Made in France?

    Thanks!

    • Nah. Made in China. One I bought from Amazon last year was made in France.

  • -4

Does it work for induction cooktop?

  • +1

How do you check local store stock?

edit: No problems, can do it on my PC. Wasn't showing on mobile for me.

  • +1

Bought 2, thanks OP these are pretty decent pans, crazy cheap at $20

  • +1

Anyone know whether these are actually flat on the bottom? I'm sick of pans where every cracked egg flows to the middle.

    • +11

Aargh the worse ones are when cracked egg flow to the edges ie the pan is slightly raised in the middle.

    • Most good quality pans come flat. The warping happens when the pan experiences a sharp change in temperature.

  • Plenty of stock around Brisbane. How much are these normally?

  • +2

Thanks op. Bought the 20 cm and 30 cm.

This item isn't available in the requested quantity. It may have been purchased already, or the listing has expired.

    • +1

      same

      • same, and that is at 3 different stores that have it in stock

    • Same here.

  • Couldn't find any in any sizes around Melbourne so purchased 2 30cm pans with ~$7.50 postage.

  • 30cm pans are out of stock for c&c … have got a 26cm 😂

  • +3

Also have the delight set which seems to have more stock around my stores. $32.64 for 22cm and 28cm frying pan.

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/123888261483

Edit: I had a little look at the website and not much difference except the delight set states it has a coat that lasts 2x longer. Didn't say whether this anodised set had it.

  • Do the handles get hot on these (no silicone)?

    • +1

Mine gets warm. Hot closer to the pan if the gas is on high and licking around the edge of the pan.

  • Are those non-stick?

  • +2

FWIW I used to be a big fan of the higher end Tefal pans, but have switched allegiance to Circulon. Seem to be lasting longer, can get for similar price if you hunt around, can go into the dishwasher, and (word of mouth - I haven't used it) they have a good replacement warranty. Just saying.

    • same with ikea 365. teflon professional coating. 5 year guarantee.

kept getting this "This item isn't available in the requested quantity. It may have been purchased already, or the listing has expired."

  • +1

Also getting the same error "This item isn't available in the requested quantity. It may have been purchased already, or the listing has expired."

  • Can’t buy it. Keep getting error message 😔

  • Just bought 3 with no issues

  • maybe try a different browser.

I did it on Google Chrome website.

    • That worked! Use Google Chrome. I was using Firefox which was giving errors

      • Using Chrome..had errors

        • I just bought the knives Block from GG Ebay and the error I had in Firefox is now in Chrome. I was using Click and collect with item in stock at my chosen store when the errors occurred. I changed to another store and it worked. Go figure

  • Anyone got a 'ready to pick up' email yet?

    • not yet ><

  • no one asked me but I'd choose this over cast iron any day

    • Different strokes for different blokes really.

      Both have their uses.

      • What use does a cast iron pan have that this doesn’t?
I guess cast iron is expected to last forever

        • They last forever, they have no PFOA, they can be a source of dietary iron, they can provide some flavor is seasoned well.

  • Thanks. Got a 30cm one.

  • They are all showing $25 now + $5 postage for me on eBay Mobile.

    Got the 26" anyways.

    • +2

Did you use the code? They have all been showing that price. The code takes 20% off.

      • Ohhhh haha my bad.

  • No stock for CC aound the west of Melb …

  • +2

Cheers OP! the 30cm is out of stock now, but grabbed the 20 and 26cm :)

  • Didn't work with C%C (This item isn't available in the requested quantity. It may have been purchased already, or the listing has expired) but did work with delivery

  • Amazon matching the same item? https://www.amazon.com.au/TEFAL-E91705-Gourmet-Frypan-Cookwa…
Includes free delivery for Prime members.

    • Cant use ebay good guys code. Turns out expensive.

      • Cheaper for delivery though, but 1-3 month dispatch time… Really?

    • Looks like it. Posted a deal for it here when I realised Amazon still had the 26cm available at the matched price. Unfortunately, by the time I submitted the deal (or shortly thereafter), they reverted the price.

The 20cm frypan is still available, though. (Both at The Good Guys eBay and Amazon.)

  • +3

I bought this 2 days ago, click and collect. Got home to see that it says NOT SUITABLE FOR INDUCTION,, it’s now a gift for a friend that has a gas cooktop

    • Hmm! But on this Amazon link of the same pan it says it's "Compatible with gaz[sic], electric and ceramic hobs".

      • +1

        Electric ≠ Induction
        Ceramic ≠ Induction

Electric means hobs with the individual raised flat solid round (or older coil style) heating elements.

Ceramic means the totally flat "glass" hobs with halogen heating elements below the glass.

Induction means the totally flat "glass" hobs that use magnetic coupling to heat the ferromagnetic base of cookware (and thus the glass never gets hot).

(And yes, all three are electric-powered.)

        • +1
