    • Yeah I think it's for new numbers only unfortunately BA.

      • +1

Yeah.. Just saw that while reading the fine print thanks. :)
I think I can port out and port in & activate or may be create new account as 5GB is really good value :)

    • Technically new number or oort in, you can use existing account login to activate the sim pack but it might come up with error every now and then.

    • +1

Regarding this, Im currently with Kogan. They still have my amaysim account active ( no services in it ). Am I counts as 'new customer' ??

  • How late can I activate? I just got 4 months of that Circle.Life deal

    • +3

Redeem Groupon voucher by 7th November 2019
Activate delivered SIM before 14th November 2019

  • My current one finishes in 30/11, can I port to a blank sim and port back or Amaysim had restriction of 30 days?

    • +3

Unless things have changed in the past month then you do not have to wait but you will have to activate the SIM by 14th November so will loose 17 days from your current plan/deal.

Port to Telstra with free Telstra sim (available from Telstra online). And then port straight back to Amaysim using different email address.

To have minimal time with Telstra, first get Groupon deal. Order SIM from Telstra. Redeem Groupon voucher at Amaysim (using different email address to current Amaysim one) and indicate you are porting from Telstra. After Telstra and Amaysim SIMs arrive, port number to Telstra (I'd recommend doing this on 13th November just in case of delays). Then after number is active with Telstra, port number back to Amaysim.

      • I tried doing this with both CC and Paypal payments, but it just errors out.

I use a different email address, select porting from telstra but it errors out after i click pay now.

Any idea what i must do?

        • Just so I understand your issue, are you have an active service with Amaysim and want to transfer out and back to Amaysim using the Groupon voucher and as a new customer?

Did you ensure you logged out of your existing Amaysim account before signing up? Then signed up with a new email address but kept all other details the same? I've just done a dummy order without clicking continue to payment and it is all ok up to that point.

I signed up in this way a month or so ago without an issue. All I can suggest is try again with a different browser. Otherwise the best thing to do to avoid the downtime on Telstra while waiting for the Amaysim sim to arrive in the mail would be to buy a $2 Amaysim sim from the supermarket. Then transfer your service to Telstra. After it is active with Telstra you can contact Amaysim on live chat and ask them to sign you up with the Groupon voucher and the $2 sim you just purchased. Good luck.

          • +1

@Rodo: Thanks, yes i tried multiple browsers. I've done this probably 6 times already with 2 separate numbers porting in and out to telstra etc. It always worked fine. It all works fine until i press pay now… thats when it errors me.

Thanks for your help. I will grab a 2 dollar sim from the shop and do it that way to avoid downtime. Cheers

Everyone here is really savvy, but please note the fine print

    Excess data charged at $10/1GB

    • +9

This is prepaid plan, you can delete your credit card details after activation.

    • +3

I'm pretty sure they disable data until you pay for the 1 GB?

  • Are there usually any similar deals that allow you to add on to an existing Amaysim number? I ended up with a number I wanted to keep!

    • +1

Just port to Telstra with a free Sim and then port right back in using this deal ;)

      • I am currently helping my Mum port from Amaysim to Telstra since Oct 1, still waiting!

  • +1

Oh great price. If only I saw this yesterday. Just bought the Kogan 3 month deal for $9.90.

    • Me too!

    • +2

You're recieving 200% more data with Kogan …

… and no excess data charges.

      • +1

Yes for some that would be better but I do not need the extra data. 5GB is more than enough and I'd prefer to save $$.

        • Same here. Just bought the Kogan 3 month deal for $9.90 yesterday.

          • @EricWong: To be fair guys, getting 3 to 4 months of unlimited calls/txts and 5-20gb data all for $2.5-$5 is

sooo cheap, heck even $10-$15 per month is still way cheaper than anyone could have got 2 to 10

years ago. Most people today still pay $20-$40 for these inclusions without blinking an eyelid.

            • +3

@ozhunter68: The 8x 28 days 1gb at the same price was even a better deal. I'm still using it now.

        • +1

If you want to save then circles.life is still free for 4 months.

      • What do you mean Logan has no excess data charges?

        • When Kogan data runs out - you just lose internet access. It doesn't start using excess/extra data and then hit you with a huge bill. You have to specifically buy more data if you want it.

    • +2

Ditto. Coming off this exact deal and onto the Kogan. Still playing the deals game strong tho!

      • Me too but you wonder how long this will last before they tighten the rules and make sim hopping much harder.

  • Purchased.
    Thanks OP..

  • +5

Remember anyone who takes up this deal should also use a referral when they sign up. They (and the referrer) will then get an extra $10 credit. And yes this will work with the Groupon deal. I have done this previously.

    • +2

I want to do this right and make sure I generate the $10 benefit for myself and another ozbargainer. Do you mean Groupon referral or is there also an opportunity to use an Amaysim referral? $10 of groupon credit or amaysim credit?

      • +3

Oh good question. I should have mentioned that I am referring to an Amaysim referral. You could also get a Groupon referral too if you are new to Groupon.

For the Amaysim referral, after you have the Groupon voucher, use an Amaysim referral link and then sign up to Amaysim that way. You will then receive the $10 phone credit and can use this to add 1GB of data or an extra 28 days of service (with a 1GB plan).

        • For Groupon, doesn't the referee have to spend at least $10 for the referral to apply? If so, this deal wouldn't qualify.

Is there a minimum amount for Amaysim? If no, can I have your or someone's Amaysim referral please?

          • @GregMonarch: Oh yes, need to spend $10 or more to get the Groupon credit so would not get it with this deal. But you can use the Amaysim referral. There is no minimum spend for that one.

    • +2

Yup good point BUT the referral lists here is self updated I think a lot of sim hoppers don't update their referral codes so sometimes Amaysim referral codes doesn't work because the referrer's number is inactive. It's hard to tell which referral is still active from the random referral system so best to ask people who actually have an active service with Amaysim for referrals (me for one 😉.)

  • If I have a number with amaysim, can I add this service with another number to the same account?
i.e. whether the “new customer“ refer to account or number?

    • +2

      Yes, you can.

      • Now I'm confused. Someone above said to use a different email address. But now you can add a second service to the same account. !?

        • It might be possible to add the number to a current account but I have never tried it. I know it works using a different email address and I do this every time I go back to Amaysim. It is very easy to set up a new email address if you use gmail.

  • +1

    Stack with 15% cashback

  • Something I've just thought about….does activation count as one renewal? Or is it effectively five months worth of service?

    • -1

Should be 5x28 days according to previous reports. A family member is currently in the middle of this so can't confirm myself.

        • That's interesting. There's enough uncertainty that I will probably get onto their online chat service or call them to verify for myself!

          • @Charlie Dont Surf: When I signed up to a 6x 28 Amaysim deal months ago, I just added 6x 28 (168) days to the day I signed up. Then a couple of days before that I turned off automatic debit in Paypal, and logged into my Amaysim account and turned off automatic billing too to be certain. I only did it couple of nights ago actually - and I noticed either your Amaysim account, or the PDF invoices they email you every month, showed what the last day was anyway.

            • @GregMonarch: I had a look at one of my previous "service receipt" PDFs and it didn't have any indication of the final day.

Like you, I had a 6 x 28 day deal from April this year. I switchef it off earlier this month. I was just wondering whether I dudded myself out of an extra month by not counting "renewals".

              • @Charlie Dont Surf: Yeah, I was pretty sure I saw it on the website during the process of cancelling, but I had one of the PDFs open too - so I mentioned them just in case I was wrong.

I expect the only reason they call the first month a 'renewal' too, is because they think it would be more confusing to say 'month 1 plus X renewals'.

I activated that 6x deal on the last day possible, and turned it off just a couple of nights ago… So if you cancelled earlier this month, then you got the full amount of use.

    • +2

I think it is badly worded. It is actually 3 renewals plus the 1st 28 day period (which is not a renewal). So in total you will have 4 x 28 days of service.

      • That's what I think too, but was wondering about the term "renewal".

    • No. According to the same deals before, it’s actually 4*28 days.

    • If you look at the deal details it says "don't pay $80", which is equivalent to 4 x standard 5Gb $20 plan. Unless someone else confirms otherwise this is what I'm going to assume.

  • Hi, how about if I used to be amaysim member? Can I still use this one?
So first time used amaysim(previous)-> catch mobile(current)-> amaysim(want to use this promotion).
So porting the same phone number.

    • +1

Yes if you were previously with Amaysim then you can use this deal. Some here say you can use the same email address as previously but I always just sign up using a different email address.

One other thing you need to be aware of is that because Catch Connect and Amaysim are on the Optus network, porting between providers on the same network can take much longer than porting from one network to another. So either leave enough time before your service ends with Catch Connect or port to Telstra first (order a free sim online) and then to Amaysim.

      • +1

        Thanks for the advice🙂

Whoever negged "Rodo" he was just trying to be helpful and maybe not all info is 100% correct ( I'm not

sure myself ), but instead of negging it would be much more helpful if you used words to clarify or correct.

          • +1

@ozhunter68: Thanks. Yes would be good if the person made a comment instead of just negging my comment. I am just trying to be helpful.

I have ported in and out of Amaysim many times so have lots of experience doing this. And I am just passing on the information that I have learnt.

            • +1

@Rodo: There should be an FAQ page for each carrier, LOL. You learn all the steps, sign up, and 4x months later have to read the comments over again - or ask - because you forget.

  • -1

Would rather get Kogan $9.95 60GB 3 months.

    • Me too, but luckily we have choices. Vodafone reception is not good for some people ( and vice versa ), and some don't need more than 5gb per 28 days.

    • Except with this you can get another 28 days for every Amaysim referral.

      • Person 1 gives Person 2 a referral link. Both get $10 credit.
      • Person 2 uses up his 4x 28 days from this deal. Then uses the $10 credit to switch down to 1GB for another 1x 28 days.
      • So if Person 2 gives his referral link to someone else, he gets another $10. So he's up to 6x 28 now, etc.
      • Where can we get a referral link?

        • Turn on your Private Messages.

        • Ooh yep I turned it on now

      • Someone logs in to their Amaysim account, finds and copies their referral link, and pastes and sends it to you for you to click. But I think if we post it here it will get deleted. So you'd need to turn your ozbargain private messages on. (Click your own username, then 'Edit', 'Messaging', and tick 'Allow private messages'. Turn it off again later if you want - after you receive someone's referral link.) ;-)

I haven't activated yet, so I don't have my own Amaysim activation link yet, or I'd try posting mine in a separate message to see if it gets deleted by moderators. (I'm leaving activation until sometime from the 1st to 7th Nov, as I'm in no hurry to activate.)

Or, I think you can probably message someone without turning your own messaging on, by clicking their username.

  • So if I read correctly above the port out/port back in to Amaysim trick should enable me to get another 4 months on this deal and keep my number? (I signed up in August for the last deal)

    • Correct.

    • Yep. I’ve been porting out and back in for ages now. This time will be 4th.

      • Nice OK. Do these Amaysim deals sell out fast or should it be available for a while? Im still deciding :)

        • This is a regular deal

  • How long do you have to be ported out of Amaysim to be a 'new customer'?

    • +1

As long a it takes you to port out and back in again! There is no minimum time. You just need to use a new email address when signing up to be classed as a new customer.

  • Thanks. Used monopoly $5 :D

  • +1

Tried to redeem through this link:

    https://www.amaysim.com.au/my-account/online/unlimited-small…

It asks for current number and DoB, would it port the number and activate straightaway? Or is there another chance to activate after receiving the SIM card?

    • +2

No, it doesn't start porting until you receive the new SIM and go to activate it. (Which makes sense, as otherwise everyone porting in would lose access to their number for a few days while they wait for the SIM to arrive.)

  • +1

    Oh No!
Is the plan au-renew every 28 days, why mine one is not au-renew, just only the 1st months, after your plan is expired, only can received call and sms.
How to get it re-new please!
    Thanks a lot.

    • +1

You need to enable auto renew

      • Um… What did he say!? Does he mean you have to turn on auto renew yourself after signing up, because Amaysim doesn't - meaning you only get 1 month if you don't? Or something else??

      • They're not charge direct your bank acc or credit card when you're enable auto renew?

  • Valid for new amaysim customers only

I was with Amaysim a few months ago, now with Kogan. If I sign up to this deal now, would I be considered a new customer?

    • Yes. To be safe, create a new account with a new email address.

      • Awesome, thanks!

  • I hope they bring back the old deal 9 renewals x 1gb every 28 days.

    • If they do, you can bet it will be one week into one of these that you bought LOL.

      • Screwed one way or the other

  • Noob question, first time for me – how does the subsequent (x3) recharge works? Is it included in the promo by activating auto renewal or do I have to use the groupon poromo code every 28 days for x3?

    • +1

Auto renewal. you just have to remember to disable auto recharge after last recharge or port out in last month :-)

      • Sweet. Thanks.

  • How does Amaysim compare to Circles.life?

  • I don't think the groupon code works for this anymore because it's been changed from 5GB to 10GB, it throws an error when inserting the groupon voucher code.

I purchased my code back in October and just tried redeeming it and it throws an error.

    • I tried a code that was purchased almost three weeks ago and it worked automatically for the new 10GB plan.

      • Weird, I tried again but this time in incognito mode and it worked!

    • They've extended the redemption date now too, from the 7th to the 10th BUT the activation date is still the 14th… So maybe that's why it works NOW? i.e. The URL still has 5GB. So maybe they realised Amaysim doubling the data 'broke' the Groupon redemption link - and fixed it.

      • Received an email about this from Cashrewards:

"Due to a technical error on the merchant's end, some voucher codes were not working. This issue has now been fixed and the merchant has kindly extended the validity of these vouchers, to allow customers to redeem until midnight 10 Nov 2019 (after this, you will have until midnight 16 Nov 2019 to activate your SIM card)."

  • Take note when it comes time to cancel, after your last 'recharge' email arrives:

    • Login to Amaysim
    • Turn off auto-renew
    • Login to Paypal
    • Turn off automatic payments to Amaysim (if Paypal is the payment method you signed up with)
    • I also cancelled my last Amaysim SIM manually, via their livechat…

In spite of entering all my ID to enter their chat, the rep also wanted to know:

    • "Your payment method (credit card, debit card, direct debit, paypal, BPAY/Voucher), and…"
    • "A phone number you called or texted regularly."

I replied: "Paypal - and it was a Groupon voucher, but I didn't really phone or text anyone." [I only got it to activate other telco SIMs if I ran out of data on those.] So then he asked for:

    • "The approximate date you joined Amaysim (month and year)."

I said, "The Groupon voucher was for 6x renewals." Which wasn't a 'precise-enough approximate' for him. So he said:

    • "I need month and year please." (What happened to "approximate" !?)

While I was looking for old Amaysim emails he typed:

    • "If you cannot provide it let me know the exact date of the last recharge?"

I'm not sure how finding this would be any easier. So I ignored him and kept looking for the first Amaysim email about 6 months ago. While I was looking for that he said:

    • "Let me know if you are unable to provide the information then I'll escalate this for call back."

    !?

THIS is obviously why it's best to signup/pay using Paypal, then turning off automatic Paypal payments a few days into your last month (a few days after the last renewal email arrives), as well as turning off 'renew' on Amaysim.
