Looks like most of their range is on sale

  • Has anybody tried these, and are they any good?
Have four vegans coming over for dinner on Friday and this would make catering easy.

These are very very good. The nuggets will be on sale too, also very good.
There are also vegan fish fillets, that should be on sale too, not bad not bad.

Just noticed on the weekend that Coles now have their own vegan nuggets in the cold food/meat section (not the freezer). Was only like $8 for 12 nuggets or so, much cheaper!

        • The Coles nuggets and schnitzels are fantastic - IMO way ahead of any Quorn product for taste.

      • Cheers mate. I'll be sure to grab a few packs then.
I don't mind a veggie burger every now and then so I might grab extras!

used to live with vegans, these are actually quite good, they would always buy these or vege delights

I find that these are really good when they are hot / just cooked but i find once they cool down or cold they dont taste as great

The quorn vegan gourmet burgers are my pick. They're a bit more expensive (you only get two in a box) but they're pretty bloody good. I think I prefer them to the beyond burgers even.

      • Yep great taste and texture closure to meat, but they're not spicy. Also much more filling. These ones are delicious because they're soft though, but too small.

They are our fav too. Not as bland as some others.

I can say, as a non-vegetarian married to a mostly vegetarian, Quorn has frequented our meals on many regular occasions. The new Gourmet burgers in their range (pack of 2) are rather nice, have a smokey flavour and a striated texture akin to meat. The smaller crumbed items such as these are good. The crumbed fish-free fillets are almost identical to actual crumbed frozen fish fillets, even better! The schnitzels are great to make mini-parmas with, and the best part is not having to stress if the "meat" is cooked enough.

I'd recommend the Quorn products over other vegetarian alternatives as they're not bulked with soy/legumes or modified starches. They are made of Micoprotein, a kind of fungus that looks like dried yeast when it's started, then left to grow with water and heat (just like yeast) in large silos. So, high in protein, no questionable levels of soy product, no highly processed powder alternatives.

For those who are on a Gluten-free diet or are vegan, there's some items in the range that fit one or both categories. Quorn "Pieces" and "Sausages" I think are some of them, and although the sausages aren't as good as a real banger, the pieces are great when cooking into things.

The link says $7 for me, is this a specific state or not started yet?

Vegan or non vegan this is processed food = increased cancer risk !

Just for those who think its healthy :)

This comment increased my cancer risk.

    • I for one am SHOCKED to discover this hamburger is not healthy

    • +4

Do you go onto Maccas and Hungry Jacks posts and comment the same thing? Nowhere in this post does it say these are healthy.

Apparently not - comment history is on Beyond burger at Grill'd, Soul Burger (meat free), Rebel Whopper (meat free) at Hungry Jacks and this post.

We get it, you like meat - get a hobby, geez.

      • In the reverse: the taste of meat can be replicated therefore the idea of meat being unique in taste is just a lie.

        • I eat a lot of Quorn and other vego alternatives and have yet to taste any that taste like real meat, let alone surpass it (vego household as it is 1/2 vegos and easier than making two meals). Maybe one day they will match the flavour, maybe there is something out there but I have not tested it yet. Looking forward to try the new rebel whopper, the old vegan whopper was putrid.

I like Quorn mince in lasagne/spagbol, it's not real mince but isn't bad and non-vegos who don't normally eat vego lasange/spagbol find it more than passable.

The link is between processed meat and certain types of cancer.

  • Frozen Hot.

  • Expired before I could get my hands on any!

The reason Quorn tastes ok is that it is not plant-based, but made from fungi, the second-best kingdom of life.

These are available again. It was was a system error that listed a few items available before the sale started today.
