And as usually bunnings screws the customer. Pricing by location is simply disgusting

    • Are you sure they do this?

    • Oh. I knew availability was often State-based. Didn't know their pricing was.

      Must experiment some time.

EDIT: Gloves $10 Syd/Melb, $19.98 Perth (using VPN). Dang.

        $10 for me perth

        $19.98 in regional vic. It's not state-based.

    • I disagree. It's not the best for a bargainer but implying the cost base (and therefore the sale price and profit margin) is exactly the same no matter where you are is simply not true.

And yes, Bunnings (and many bricks and mortar retailers) will charge you more if you live in an affluent area than not. Which sucks if it turns out the area if affluent and you aren't..

But they point out that the cost of land and building is always going to be more expensive in some areas than others - which is paid for by product pricing.

The other only way this would work is if they paid staff less and I think that idea sucks a lot more than pricing by location.

  • Gloves are $10… I swear they were $5 the first time I looked though, perhaps they corrected the price as at $5 they were cheap enough I considered driving to my local and stocking up.

This hammer has been on clearance for a while. I looked for it at a store that had 20+ in stock but nobody knew where they were. They put them out in random spots around the store with no record of where they are.

      Like a treasure hunt. Nice

        Hammer time!

      • Without a prize! NOT

        • +1

          The prize is the hammer

  • Silly question but what is on the other end of the device?

An USB plug or a mains plug?

    • +1

      0.8 Metre mains cord

$10 is a good price for the gloves, and is what they're worth pretty much. I've had several various pairs, and all get holes in the fingertips. The quickest was the landscaper version (my favorite, tbh).. didn't last 2 weeks. This leather version has been the best, but gets stiff as after getting water onto them.

edit: my mistake, the landscaper gloves were Ironclad. Both brands are pretty similar though… just keep them away from water.

Do not buy this hammer. It's got a bright yellow shaft. I bought one once thinking it would be easy to find however I lost it somewhere in my own roofspace within days of buying it whereas other hammers with dark coloured shafts have remained with me for years. It's a trap I tell ya!

    • You lost it because it was cheap. A common problem.

People who bought the claw hammer and gloves also bought duct tape, plastic sheeting and a spade.

  • Hammer is back up to $9.98. Chargers are $10. $5 Stanley Folding Utility Knife now $9.90. I think Bunnings may have a spy here at OzB. Or maybe these were pricing errors. Or both.

    • They were store specific prices, not sure why post wasn't edited to say so when several comments called it out.

      • The hammer was showing as $5 at my local store, but only briefly.

  • I've seen lots of store specific pricing on items based on their stock levels. I had a chat to one of the staff who pointed out that there are 'corporate buyers' who do the main buying and then there are regional or even store specific buyers.

So if Kevin in a specific store turned out to make a bad buy on shelving that explains why it's going out the door with yellow stickers in one specific store and no others..

  • That didn't last long, I was going to go this arvo to get some gloves but they're back to $19.98 :(

  • Not expired. Just not on website anymore

Just bought a hammer in Wollongong for $5.
