  • Should get even cheaper on boxing day, if you're not in a hurry to play. DMC5 is the same price

    • +4

Probably be cheaper in 2022 also

If you can wait, what's stopping you?

        • +2

I was only making a point that of course it'll be cheaper in the future. Everything is. I bought this for $45 last month. Great game and would well recommend at this price.

    • Everything gets cheaper unfortunately.

Buy now or hold out for the Black Friday sales next month?

  • +1

Devil May Cry is again $34.99

      Great game!

Both that and RE2 run on the same graphics engine. It's a BEAST!

  • +1

Never played a RE game. This will be my first but I would prefer PC coz of keyboard and mouse . Can't do shooters on a controller.

How's the controls on PS4? I assume you don't need high reflex aim? I did just finish TLOU and aiming for me was ok.

    • I am so envious of you. You'll want to play them all. Be ready for great fun. Play the game on easy the first time, then upgrade difficulty after if you feel like or just enjoy the adventure

      • Don’t play on easy first! It takes away completely from the experience in my opinion as there is absolutely no challenge. Half the fun is resource management.

    • +1

If you are fine with TLOU, you'll be fine with this. It also has aim assist to make shooting a bit easier. The key of this game is solving puzzle and running away (he he).

I just recently finished this game, and it's well worth the money as you can do a second run (the second run will make you take a different route with some variations), and a true ending.

In short, I'd buy the game at $35!

    • +1

Man I clocked the original on a PS1 back in the day on that control.

      So anything is possible!

Bought GoW for $50 still unplayed - saw it on sale for $19

Yeah I'm waiting on this :P

    • For the love of all that is holy you must get to GoW ASAP.

    • Why have you not? By far one of the best games of this generation.

      • Yeah amazing game but such a backlog. I'll get there.

        • Move it to the top of that backlog ;)

  • Still holding out for it to drop below $20. They always do within a year or two.

    • Not quite, RE7 for example did not.

  • Any physical stores doing this for $35?

    • Tempted to go and try a price match at JB during my lunch break … and to then use one of my discounted gift card codes thanks to one of the overseas eBay sales to get it slightly cheaper :)

  • And for those who like funny costume mods for Claire and Ada, wait for the PC version on sale ;)

  • Bought along with Tales of Vesperia (PS4). Thanks OP.

Just by chance while browsing ozgameshop's free shipping deal yesterday I noticed it there also for $34.99 (free shipping with HOLYSHIP): https://www.ozgameshop.com/ps4-games/resident-evil-2-remake-…

Might be good for those without Prime.

    • -1

As long as you don’t mind waiting, they ship from the UK.

  • If I understand, this is a complete remake, yeh? No longer has the fixed camera angles?

EDIT: Found my answer - over the shoulder camera.

    • +3

Yep, it's the same story as the original RE2 but is its own game with modernised controls and camera angles.

It has the vibe of a 90s survival horror game (slow pacing, backtracking, puzzles, inventory management etc.) but handles in a far more modern and streamlined way.

      They did an excellent job.

      • Cheers. I've tried getting into the series a few times but the fixed camera never gelled with me. Sounds like this game makes what is probably considered a piece of art accessible to me.

        • +1

I was in exactly the same position as you going in. I hadn't really played the RE series back in the 90s (I did play Silent Hill 2, though) and the fixed camera, tank controls setup was really alienating and too hard of a hurdle to get over two decades later.

I know there were some purists out there before release who were disappointed they weren't sticking with the fixed camera, but it did make the game far more accessible and I think they managed to thread the needle and satisfy both the fanatics and the newbies. Despite having a 3rd person over-the-shoulder camera view, it's definitely not a run-and-gun action game - it's still a tense, slow-paced survival horror game like the original.

      • So same story? Same puzzles? if this is just a HD remake with better controls then SIGN ME UP!

        • New puzzles. If you played the remaster of the original Re it should be like that

    • +1

Complete remake. It plays like a modern game but is way more subdued compared to RE4, 5 and 6. It's a traditional survival horror game at its core. Honestly the best game I've played this year and one of my favourite RE games.

  • +1

I'm too much of a wimp to play this game. Good spot on the deal though OP.

    • +1

You won't want to touch Alien: Isolation then :D

      • Dude Alien Isolation stressed me the F out. My Garmin was sending me warnings!

  • +1

Should I buy this? Never played Resident Evil games before..

    • +2

Absolutely. If you like a tense horror atmosphere, slower-paced puzzle solving gameplay mixed with intense combat and a b-movie kind of story, there's a lot to love here.

  • +2

No problem getting JB to price match this (in Adelaide CBD store at least) … just walked in, showed the lovely girl at the checkout Amazon on my phone… she checked with the bloke behind her, and done :)

    for XBOX ONE: OZGAMESHOP

    free ship with HOLYSHIP code

    Deal: HERE

  • +1

Black Friday is coming, they will drop these game prices to nothing in 6 weeks.

    • Good luck, it would be the first time

  • Is this multi player?

    • No, 1 player only. If you want a RE game for 2 players find RE Revelations 2 for PS4, a great game.
