Samsung Galaxy Note9 128GB $68/Month on 30GB Plan (24 Months Plan) @ Optus

250

Even though its a year old, it's one of the better value phones out there. Great for power users on a budget.
Comes with more than enough data for those with Wifi, and works out to be pretty cheap when you factor in the cost of the phone.

Edit: Min. Total Cost is $1,632 over 24 months.

    That's pretty damn good value.

It's like paying $450ish for the note 9.

    • How did you work that out?? I'd say with the data included is worth roughly ($35 per month) so the phone value you would paying would be around $780. Still a good deal!!

      • I searched for Optus deals on OZB, couldn't find anything except 3 months lower cost - not a huge saving. Plan $49 for 30gb. Based on that.

    • thanks I will put that in the title

If you have an ABN, JB Hi-fi were offering the Note 10+ for $399 upfront on Telstra $65 plan (24mths) with 80gb data. Works out to slightly more than this, but the latest plus version, Telstra and more data.

Not sure if still something available, those deals rotate and aren't widely advertised from what I've seen. But need to find right sales assistant, not all know much about the business deals. Even the non-business deals are pretty good though, and mostly only 12mth contacts.

    • That's like a $1300 savings off the phone. That's crazy.

      Note 10+

      Which variant

      • SM-N975F 256GB.

And yeah, because of the odd way JB process the phone on those deals, they literally make and put through a JB voucher for about $1800 (this was less than 2 weeks after release).

Or about $1400 for the S10 512GB. That was supposed to be $250 upfront, but they dropped the price overnight whilst we were waiting for it to be processed, so it ended up being $0.

Worth keeping an eye on if you're in the market for a higher end phone.

    Cheers OP. Hanging out for a sub $50 p/m deal for a Pixel 3 or S10 + data deal……

    • +4

You'll be hanging out for a while then.

      • I pay $44 a month for a Pixel 2 XL + 25gb data, got the contract in late 2017. If you think something like that won't happen again I'd be interested why you think that's the case.

        • probably because;

          1. Mobile plans/prices are rising so unfortunately, that great deal ya got in 2017? Yeh that kinda stays in 2017, doesn't mean much here :/

          2. Optus, who I personally believed to easily carry the bang-for-buck service-provider title (after Virgin Mobile pulled out), recently decided to be like, f*** it, I suppose, & bumped the absolute shit out of all their mobile plan prices :(

          3. WAIT hold up, just to clarify, I CAN see the pixel 3 (non-xl) coming down to that price, just not the s10+….yeh definitely not haha.

My iPhone 8 was $60PM with plan but I called and spoke to their cancellation department, gave me 10% off.

  • I think this plan may come with 3 months plant free
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/489595

    • It isn't it's selected plans as this and the S10E is excluded unfortunately

      • I just got this phone with 3 months free

      • Try this link, not sure if it works for everyone or just me, as was in a flybys email.

        https://edm.flybuys.com.au/pub/cc?ri=X0Gzc2X%3DYQpglLjHJlTQGsB9fIzfUAtetYCzc9gzcmm4Huzdzb101MiGqpmzb0W9Oi6uNodLW2mNbVXtpKX%3DUWACSBA&ei=Eo7QWaEZePuTpm8Xxf3b6m3i51N7HcAm0dQcU1PnBRgOUvfn1cEqnL3htS54O_1ctghfhR6hr2HCVMazcGVziUEuA6GQ7FUYWAdqTmrbvgskoVrV-VD6CkHsSKApTQCnKTr8y40Bwrx5EtV8QQxukvhum_BAapBqyavcu1l6Fw6JeQJURuRiTuqOfk6p82PcSe95hRKtH4acsR49nFK4tHEt9PlO-j4kQ9loBXJLgSNNCrqLTmi4gp0.

        • This also includes 17000 flybys as well as 3 months free

        • I think the link I posted might be linked specifically to my flybuys account, and probably doesn't work anyway. I suggest you search your emails from flybuys to see if you can find this deal, as it definitely allows the note 9 for $68 per month with 30GB + 3 months free + 17000 flybuys points

    • What plant? Hope it came with a pot!

      • +2

        And soil!

  • Optus has bad reception. Their towers are overloaded. If you are on the train, the network lag like crap

    • What wireless network wouldn't lag on a train?

      • A personal hotspot… that doesn't have internet access.

    • +1

No one is forcing you to get this phone mate…

    • +4

Doesn't that depend on where you intend to primarily use your phones? Guests at my house using Telstra have to go out the front to get reception while Optus is full bars here. Luck of the draw, but Telstra would be a bad idea for me.

      • -3

        Another Optus employee.

        • +3

Because I don't agree with your assessment? Not a very mature attitude to have. It is simply a location of towers and where you are when you are using your phones. I have an Optus tower closer to my home than a Telstra tower and conveniently an Optus tower close to my work. So for me, Optus is an optimum choice. Plus, screw Telstra.

          • +2

@FabMan: I actually have a similar experience. Telstra is really slow during peak hours while Optus is fine. It all depends on where you live. The funny part is that I live in a regional centre where Telstra is supposed to be better.

          • +1

@FabMan: Correct I was at Wakerly in Brisbane would get zero reception until I switched to Optus and never ever had a problem, the other day I did a speed test at my new house managed to get 350mbs on a S8 lol not too bad !

  • I just got the note 9 with this deal, but I also got 3 months free and 17000 flybuys points included

    • Yeah but what plan did you sign up to ? on the Optus website the $68 plan is excluded only the more expensive ones have the 3 moths… ???

      • I got the $68 plan (59 plan + $9 phone repayment), try the link I put in the comments above

      • It looks like they have stopped the 3 months with the deal I got. It was allowing it on Tuesday when I signed up for it, but when I checked just then it wasn't allowing it

  • I have iPhone 8 plan for $59 (taken in Dec 2017). Hopefully Optus will have some good options in Dec around same price $59.

Or is it worth to break current contract (,pay difference) and grab any good bargain?

  • It's now $59, very tempting deal at that price.
