Bunnings DJI Mavic 2 Zoom Drone Price Error Audit

I’m sure most will agree this deal will likely go down as one of the best ever on OzBargain, especially if you were one of the lucky ones to receive confirmation of the drone. Incredibly I was and am grateful to both BA and especially so Bunnings for honouring something they were in no way obliged to.

Starting this thread to get an idea of just how much it’s cost Bunnings. I’m sure it will run into the millions as some have suggested. Simply pick an option in the poll and feel free to chime in with comments. Thanks!

    • Do you know who made the mistake? Feel sorry for the guy who typed in wrong. I guess Bunnings used some of these as Marketing funds as everyone will keep checking on Bunnings website

    Bs move by bunnings. Do another poll and ask if people are still going to buy from them if they find a cheaper price somewhere else. They obviously don't care about its shareholders who invest their hard earn money in them.

      I dont believe so, due to some ACCC laws. Its kind of a grey area. Whats better for the company?

      1. Have the potential of having news stories due to the ACCC investigating Bunnings and the possibility of upset customers. Which can have a huge effect of hurting Bunnings new venture Marketlink?

      2. Or giving out giftcards that have to be spent back at the business which can have the possibility of generating more money than we give out. By also increasing the public's view of Bunning's which can positively effect our new Marketlink.

        Any gift card a bonus but something fishy going on when they give $250 per customer but in a nice way of course :)

        Love in the original thread some on issue of the gift card rushed to Bunning , lol I'm guessing they think it could be reversed :)

      No idea about advertising and building good will in a brand. Spent my $250 today, and then spent more. As I said in another post, it doesn't actually cost them $250, there is obviously a difference between the process they pay for the item, and the prices we pay.

    Damn, wish I jumped on this deal. Saw this one posted when it only had a few hundred clicks but like many thought "ugh, obvious price error".

    Now I see there is a chance I could have gotten the drone or at least a $250 gift card which would have been nice as I shop there a fair bit.

    • Me too still I wonder why bunnings is giving out gift cards, its not like they would receive bad press for this. Its an obvious mistake and they are covered by t & c.

  • Ordered via web, selected pay later using PayPal, no email confirmation of order however Paypal did have the acknowledgment and order no. Received email from Bunnings with $250 voucher and offer of refund. Spent it yesterday on a replacement bbq. Was an impulse buy and I needed a new bbq anyway! Win.

      Take a chance on a possible price error, knowing there is a large chance of the deal not being fulfilled… then getting pissed off about it… shouldn’t have told the kids until you knew for sure

      Or you can sell the $250 voucher and head down to JB getting an ex-display DJI Spark for $399? Sure it’s no Mavic 2 but it’s still a reasonably capable drone.

      Unfortunately, we (myself and 3 teenage sons) are very very angry about this, as we were genuinely wanting the drone.

      You four got 'very very angry?' You didn't even know the deal existed until hours prior. It was an obvious pricing error, you shouldn't have assumed you'd get it in the first place. Wow.

      Waah, you didn't get an obvious price error. You got $250 for nothing, and if you can't afford to be without $300 for a week, you shouldn't be taking the chance on crap like this.

  • Nice checking my work emails to find a $250 voucher. But what do I need from Bunnings? Perhaps time for a new chair for $39?

  • Considering they dominate the $13 billion hardware business in Australia, it's honestly a drop in the ocean. And that was before being online and being able to service all the regional customers.

  • I placed 2 orders and both went through viA PayPal. Haven’t heard anything from Bunnings at all.

        • I ordered before 7:40 and I received a proper order invoice as well as an email confirmation. Hoping the next call is to come in and pick up the drone.

  • Those of you that have received an email saying you’re getting the drone, have any shipping details been updated or have you been notified it’s been shipped?

  • No refund as yet, money still debited from my account and is at pending, and my bunnings account still shows the order, also my cart is remains broken and doesnt allow access, it just spins.

    Have others had their Bunning order cleared from the 'my orders' section and are you able to access your cart?.

    Both refunded, no voucher, no drone.

    This has been….disappointing.

        Went back to store for physical refund at their request (it was right next to work anyways).

    Looks like I am the only one who has just received refund only….no drone …no GC :( but kudos to bunning for honouring so many orders

    I would like to know the details of the ACCC regulation which in part pushed Bunnings to make this decision!

    • Likely non. There are clauses when you buy something to state they can terminate a sale on price error.

        Even if there website specifically says "price correct as of xx:xx time?"

      • Regardless of their T&Cs .. according to Dealinator* in Bunning's management team, the ACCC and the time the intern's mistake was online .. swayed the decision

  • Mine still pending. No refund, no gift card. Called them few days ago and they said the need to contact the company who hosted their website to get more detail.

    Received a text yesterday that delivery won't be available and that I'd need to collect in-store close to home. Picked my new toy up today, and they even refunded the $10 delivery fee. So blown away by Bunnings. Thank you!
