Best price being a saving of what?

  • +6

not exactly the thing i want to impulse buy :/

    • +7

      Speak for yourself! Free shipping?

      jk

  • +9

seems a lot for a CD for a car…what does it have on it?

    • +6

Pictures of a $20,000 car. Hi-res of course.

  • -1

    LOL wisc

  • +2

    Spam….. go away
best time to buy is the last couple of days befor the end of the month.
Guarranteed to get a better price than you have offered.

  • -5

    Hi Mikinoz,

    Depends how you define savings.

Regardless, it is definitely the best price you will find on this new car anywhere in the market. Off RRP, it is about $4000.

alexbox….yeah I'd be suprised if any of our customers where impulse buys!

    Thanks,
    AT

    • So you are using this site to plug your business? Cheers on that one.

Also, it's not really a bargain when you think about it. Maybe if it was lubriciously marked down to $8,999, then come talk to me haha

      • +2

        Halobro,
        Thanks for your comments.

Last we had a lot of interest from ozbargains customers as someone posted our previous deal on here. I posted this one because I'm sure some people here would be interested in this one…

    • Normally a bargain will detail minimum savings referencing another vendor/site otherwise how do we know this is an actual bargain besides the sales pitch

      • Good Point Mikinoz.
Every car dealer says they have the 'best price'.
We know it is a bargain because it is at least $400 cheaper than the next best on the market atm. Becasue we are confident it is, we even guarantee it.

        • Show us then?

      • Hi Mikinoz,

As per your suggestion, Ive added a link to the description above…. a good place for comparing prices is on carsales.

    • No one paying rrp these days.u must be dreaming

      • +1

Yes, people are paying RRP on certain cars. Supply and demand.

        • you're right in theory, but there are few such cars.

the cheapest car i know going close to RRP is polo GTI at 33k, and even that i got a couple of K off.

    • Who buys at RRP anyway?

  • +1

You need to stipulate this deal is SYD only. Also the deal can be had in Canberra but for $300 more.

    • +3

      Apologies.

      I'll make the changes.

      Thanks,
      Adam

  • yep cheaper than the cheapest on car sales, i wouldnt say spam, but I doubt your going to have a large audience here…

your cheaper by 45 bux (or 0.221%) HUGE savings here!

    http://bit.ly/qu0Gvk
(although pointed out to me different states have different onroad costs - next best one is below)

but even selling 1 car would make it worthwhile posting…

  • +4

    Oz-dxer,

    Thanks for your comments.

We negotiate bulk discounts with the largest dealerships to get a better price for our customers. If you can find a better price, we will beat it by and extra $500.

    • +1

OK, i must admit they are a nice looking small car.
missus has a Mazda SP25, so she isnt looking right now:)

  • +1

    Wisc,

This is a syndey driveaway price. Stamp duty is much greater in NSW and as such the driveaway price is much greater.

We will be in perth over the next few months though.

    • +1

ahh ok here's the next closest one in NSW
      - 400 bux cheaper….seems pretty decent for someone that was going to buy one anyway…(from carsales atleast)

      welcome to ozbargains.

        Mate that's what http://bit.ly is for =)

        • hehe- yeah thanks for that… will have to remember it in future. cant modify this one though now that there is an extra comment on it.

    • i think its a pretty harsh neg, you havent shown a "brand new" car cheaper - comparing apples to apples that is…

      • Agreed… its a deal because its cheaper… its not the BEST deal in the world.. but still anything cheaper then the cheapest is a good price.

      • +2

I think it is just the nature of the car business. They never PRINT low prices, but willingly offer them.

      • +4

        Excuse me?

        http://tinyurl.com/3oapqs5

that is on the link I posted, and that's without gallivanting around saying they have the cheapest deal around.

Look at it this way, the weird car collective buy site has to make money by acting as a sales agent to the car dealers, hence they require a cut for their business model to work. Looking at their site, the deal is live as soon as ONE car is bought.

What that should show to anyone with half a brain is that the dealer is willing to give away that single car for the price shown, less the agent commission, without having to purchase in bulk or gauranteed quantities.

Can't believe there are still idiots taking car prices at face value these days.

I'd be supportive of the site if they actually gave us prices that you couldn't normally just haggle out yourself, without all the smuggery. You know, like actually utilise the power of collective bargaining instead of just dressing up what is essentially a car sales agent site?

        • agree with most of what you said, however the example is for a different state. - different taxes etc… usually im ok with different states - however in this case, even if that car where sold in NSW it would have to take into account the extra onroad costs… *(could possibly still be cheaper)

        • +7

          Hi Isdbeta.

Thanks for your comments. I can understand your thoughts.

The price you have here is for WA. This differs greatly for the driveaway price in NSW due to stamp duty etc.

The reason why we can say the deal is on with one person is because we already have enough members to guarantee that the deal will go through (similar to the way scoopon and groupon have great discounts but immediately give the deal). We also don't want our customers to have to wait for their new car while others sign up first.

We negotiate with our partners and tell them if we bring them x amount of customers, they will provide us with x great price. If we do not make that number, that's on our back.

I can promise you were are not another 'fleet' company. You can read my opinions about them here http://bit.ly/rr8LBE.

If you can find a better price, please give me a call and I will be happy to match and beat it by another $500. That's my guarantee to you.

          Thanks,
          Adam

  • You might want to just input a few sites where we could actually see the difference in price and savings.

    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/help:deal_posting_guideline…

Kinda difficult to not see this as advertising otherwise because you are posting as a rep.

    • Thanks mediam0de.

Apologies. I have applied to be a site rep. I will include these sites.

      Regards,
      Adam

  • +1

    Isbeta.
Be very careful, these cars you have linked to are not the same model or year.

    • -3

      http://tinyurl.com/3oapqs5

same model, same year, less pretense.

      • different state, different on road costs.

(though to be honest, i dont know if its the 400 dollars in difference here)

      • +3

That's for sale in WA. The posting is for NSW. Different states have different taxes, stamp duty, registration costs and so on.

        • NSW:

          stamp - 3% ($600 on this)
          rego - $255
          CTP - $450

you may want to look up WA prices for these, but not so much less.

now you can compare interstate prices… lsdbeta is helping.

        • +3

Cool, now we've got something to compare for those idiots who can't do maths (all of the neggers).

          WA:

          stamp - 2.75% ($550 on this)

rego - $265.50 (WA rego is calculated as 17.53(vehicle type fee)* (vehicle weight/100) + 13.05(recording fee) + 13.20 (prescribed flat fee). Vehicle weight is 1365KG, thus 17.53*13.65+13.05+13.20

          CTP - $245

          Total duties for WA: 1060.50

Total duties for NSW(according to kimmik): 1305

Price of collective car buy, less duties for NSW: 20399-1305 = 19094
Price of advertised dealer (still with room to haggle), less duties for WA: 19999-1060 = 18939

No point in arguing, I like having solid numbers out there and people can make their own decisions.

SO THE IMPORTANT LESSON FROM THIS:

          Quote from adam888 above:

If you can find a better price, please give me a call and I will be happy to match and beat it by another $500. That's my guarantee to you.

Happy $19,499 Holden Cruze Oz bargainers, you've just saved close to another 1000bux. No need to thank me. My gift to the unwashed masses.

          /bossface/

        • +3

thanks for the info lsdbeta, but chillout =P

        • Not trying too hard Isdbeta? Why are you so hostile in your responses? This isn't a competition mate. As kimmik said—chill out. I guess after all your calculations (assuming they are accurate) you didn't read the terms?

          Price Guarantee Terms
          http://carjoy.com.au/price-guarantee-terms/

The car must be available in the same city as your place of residence...

You're working off a quote form Perth, while buyers of the CarJoy deal will be from Sydney or NSW.

There are other conditions in the terms that you must fulfil to get the price beat, as in a written quote from the dealer that can be verified by CarJoy. Obviously a "drive away" quote for a car registered in WA is ≠ to a quote for the same car in NSW. Therefore such a quote is invalid in these circumstances as it's not an "apples with apples" quote (differing components in drive away price / also delivery from WA to NSW would be hefty).

        • Lol if that's the case then that's pretty sneaky. Dealers don't generally give you a written quote.

Also how do they "verify" it? Not like they can call up and ask them if they're selling cars for that price, nor is it likely they can just refer to "that bloke that just haggled it down to 19,999, is that true?"

        • The other thing, until you bought the car and received the paperwork you would most likely never know exactly how much the CTP component of the "drive away" price is. Insurance companies are known to give discounts to dealers if they use their services exclusively. So trying to break down the drive away price components is a futile exercise (particularly since CTP calculation is not always straight forward. In some states (like NSW) the actual CTP cost can vary depending on age of driver, traffic history, etc).

        • as much as it varies, you are still better off knowing the rough costs, than not knowing it at all…

      • Different state buddy different prices buddy.

  • not a bargin

  • +20

come on guys, i think adam's doing a decent job working with the community here - no need to be too negative, so far he is 400 dollars cheaper than the next best car in NSW.
wouldnt call it spam - though maybe not a huge bargain. still 400 bux… nothing to be sneezed at…

I'm usually the first one to jump on the spam/neg badwagon - i like a dealer that works with the community by providing prompt replies …

    • +2

      I've always loved that expression.

Are there actually people who go around sneezing at stuff they don't approve of? I'm definitely going to try that next time someone comes to my door to talk to me about switching my electricity provider.

      • lol… do it next time your at a shop and get a rude sales person who doesnt offer you a discount…sneeze all over them then say sorry "that price is to be sneezed at"

also when i said maybe not a huge bargain… (it was based on the % - equates to apprx 1.9% - though 400 bux is good.)

        • Agreed. 1.9% may not get a rush of votes, but if you're in the market for one of these $400 is better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick.

  • +2

competition is tight now adays for the car market, so even $400 is significant in savings given that fact….

    • +1

competition has never been loose. you'll never get a great car price buying at advertised price.

  • +1

Holdens? no thx…Rebadged Daewoo? kill me pls

    • +2

No.. the new 2011 Holden Cruze is built in Australia.. the 2009-2010 were shiped from Korea

So its a 100% Aussie made car… With parts from Aus, USA and Korea

    • Holden rebadged Daewoo
      "Great Wall"…rebadged Rodeo
Cruize….rebadged "Great Wall" Ha ha now that would be funny…..

  • Thanks Wisc and bemybubble.

  • In all fairness, having been in the market for a car recently, this price seems quite good. Not the kind of thing many people would buy because they found it on Ozbargain, though.

  • +1

If I was looking to buy a new car I would defintely be interested in this. $20.4k for a decent car, and most importantly, it's a true drive away price.

  • Does the price include delivery?

    • +1

Yes, it includes dealer delivery if that is your question.

It is the driveaway price as specified by the ACCC.

If you live outside Sydney, we can also ship the car to your door for an 'at cost' transportation fee. I'd have to check for exact pricing depending on locations..

  • the 1.8 is for the lose

how much is it for the 1.4 turbo upgrade?

    • +1

      Hi tonyjzx

I would have to check with our partnered dealer, but I'm sure we can arrange something…give us a call on 1800 CAR JOY and I can work out an exact price for you…

      Thanks,
      Adam

    http://www.holden.com.au/vehicles/series-ii-cruze
"Introducing the next generation of Australia's best selling small sedan, the new Australian built Series II Holden Cruze."

Thats taken from the Holden website for the 2011 model so its an Aussie made car! :)

But i thought Mazda 3 was the best selling sedan in Australia.. i guess Holden use wordplay here cause the Mazda 3 also comes in a Hatch so they can get away with saying that .. "Very cheeky of Holden

    • +6

actually it was a typo on the part of holden.

it should read "Australia's best smelling small sedan"

      • +3

I gave you a plus for effort :)~ it was so bad it was funny.

    • Yeah, the Mazda 3 far outsells the Cruze in numbers. Cruze is still a decent car.

  • +2

I think it is a great post..!!!!

As many of us should get into smaller cars and save on rego and fuel….

The deal is good and the car is Australian Made..!!!

  • Adding some info about the car into this "bargain" wouldve saved many from having to click through to see what this model actually offers in terms of features etc that make it a so called bargain. No mention of whether its Auto or Manual either. A simple copy and paste from that web page into here wouldnt have been too hard for you?

    • +1

      Thanks Trishool.

That was a rookie error on my behalf. I have updated it as you suggested.

      • +1

What I meant was for you add the following information (and im still surprised that you left out the specific model number JH in the title and description):

        Highlights:

The 2011 Holden Cruze JH Series II CD (Manual) for $20,399 Driveaway!
Automatic also available for $22,299 Driveaway!
        Most Colours Available.
        3 year 100,00km Roadside Warranty!
5 Star ANCAP Saftey Rating and 4 Green Star Rating.
        1.8L, 4 cylinder Petrol Engine

        Standard features include:

        Cruise control
USB input with full Ipod Connectivity
        Steering Wheel Audio Controls
        Auto Headlights
        Power windows
        Trip Computer
        Graphic Information Display
        Air conditioning
        Front and Side Airbags

  • 1.4 litre iTi turbo is the engine to get though.

  • We may consider if it's 50% off. Can we do a price match?

    • Spoken like a true ozbargainer…

    • +1

      haha wish I could.

  • +10

Thanks for all the comments guys,

I hope I've cleared up some questions and I apologise for the lack of info when I posted…

I'd like to say that I am really impressed how much everyone on oz bargains works to keep retailers honest (and make sure they actually are bargains)….

That's what we are trying to bring to the car industry, no BS.

    Cheers
    Adam.

  • -5

Please don't let this be the first of many car "deal" spams.

    • +3

I would prefer getting these bargains compared to all the iPhone app bargains coming out lately, or the group buy ones even.

  • -6

As a ozbargainer i believe anything that 40% off from rrp is a good buy and good bargain but your product is not even 15% off rrp so no deal.pls take note this is ozbargain not carsales.com.au

    • +4

think its a bit different for high price articles… specially low margain like a car…

      • +1

        low margin……….

i'm sorry wisc, you're talking hot air now. not many stores in this world are as posh as new car dealerships.

their margin is a convoluted system of bonuses and rebates and limited time offers from the headoffice.

if you're looking at the RRP, the dealer margin could indeed fluctuate to 40% at times. but the dealers will advertise these cars at 20% off, and make 20% margin instead.

its a grand game wisc, grander than you give it credit for.

  • +4

I think that the rep in this case has been very helpful and clear.

I'm not looking to buy a new Cruze. But if I was, as an ozbargainer I'd certainly be calling up the dealers, eventually beating the price listed above, and then contacting carjoy for a further $500 off.

    • +9

Agreed. If every rep from other industries worked as hard as Adam to make the grade we'd be up to our eyeballs in bargains.

Just remember too, guys, if you're negging a deal and can see a rep working patiently to improve the deal/info keep the feedback constructive. Name calling, snap judgements and gross generalisations based on our (often limited?) experience neither help us get the deal nor encourage the reps to come back again.

  • +1

The price comparison link is misleading… Try sorting by price next time.

  • -1

    god, not this mob again

    • +1

Yeah, how dare they attempt to make prices cheaper from car dealers; who we all know are exceedingly honest & never rip people off; they cheek of the bastards! :)

  • +1

@adam888, any idea when deals will be available for QLD? Thanks!

    • +1

      Hi Camelgrass,

We are working hard on expanding to other cities at the moment. We are hoping to be there within the next month or two.

For the moment the best thing to do is to 'suggest a car' that you are interested in…. I'll be sure to let you know as soon as we get there!

      Thanks,
      Adam

      • Thanks. I'll put in suggestion on your site. Hyundai i30 please ;).

As a side comment, someone at carjoy.com.au was sockpuppeting on Whirlpool.net.au under JR1001

    http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/user/440446

The post has been hidden by the moderator.

One thing the post mentioned was "Are there other women here who feel the same?", making the consumer target fairly obvious - the ones more vulnerable to being ripped off.

i'm also surprised at how many people here think 2% cheaper means a good price for a car… you can quite readily bargain down a few % from the cheapest advertised price.

How to buy a car is VERY different to how to buy a phone…

    • i knew they were just spammers.

    • U r right kimmik.

      • +1

        Kimik,

Thank you for this. I was unaware about whirlpool. I will look into it and I apologise if it is was one of our staff. In saying this, I don't think it is fair to simply assume it was…..

The reason why I was alerted to oz bargains was because a member posted our deal on here last week and I needed to answer some questions to prevent some (unfortunate) people from defacing the reputation of our firm. In the end, 27 agreed that it was a great deal. Subsequently, I thought users may be interested in this one. http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/48219

If you are in the market for a holden cruze, I'm sure you will find this is a great bargain. ….

        Cheers,
        Adam

        • +2

no one will try to "deface" your business if you stick to some simple rules:

1: do not overhype your savings. someone will realise it doesn't stack and tell everybody about it

2: be upfront about your competition. deals need to stand on their own accord, not tricking ppl into thinking its cheaper than it really is.

3: i cant take your word for it, when you say you were unaware of whirlpool. but i'll give you benefit of doubt. if similar events occur, it wont do any good for your business.

why dont all businesses follow these simple "rules"? because the deal won't seem as good! then they wont get as much publicity! easy for you to break these "rules", but then you'll have to deal with sceptical shoppers and suffer backlash.

        • These are some good points thanks kimmik. Apologies if you felt mislead.

I'll be sure to follow these steps in the future, lesson learnt.

The last thing we are trying to do is mislead anyone….we truly believe in our product, that is why we work so hard to bring customers great deals.

Our business came about because we saw the need for honestly and transparency in the new car industry. We know people have been mislead before, that's why we provide upfront pricing and a guarantee.

          Thanks,
          Adam

I work for forensics in IT and I see a correlation of speech (Post) type between this user and the whirlpool ID you have provided.

This user tends to overuse the symbol period, or dot, (.) and lacking a whitespace after said amalgamation of symbols in paragraphs, when posting in a non-official capacity, suggesting the idea of lingering thoughts that are unspoken and unarticulated, often to provide the reader with a catalyst for imagination.
