Whats your brother doing with it? Is it just a birthday/Christmas present? Does he game intensively? If so what games does he play? How old is he?

There are a lot of questions regarding whether this is the right device for him.

        • he is 12 year old, just looking to buy him a entry level laptop for school work and casual gaming. i am not a gamer so not sure whats a good laptop is

@Rizpak: This one will be plenty for a 12 yro. These devices only last around 3-4 years.

Just a dumb question here, Is this better than XPS15?

    • +1

      XPS 15? lmao isnt that a 3.5k device…

      • I think you can get some builds for under $2000 when on sale.

Depends on the configuration and what you are using it for :)

AT this price you'd be lucky to get a refurb XPS / one with the much less powerful 1050ti

    • So, is there anything cheaper that can compete with XPS15 in terms of the form factor, display vs body size/weight ratio?

      • I believe the Matebook x Pro is inteded to be a cheaper version of an XPS

        • Too bad it is only 14 inch, XPS 15 is well.. 15 inch.
And it is not that much cheaper considering that it only has MX150 GPU.

    • Better in what way? The xps line is like a Mercedes or BMW where it does everything nicely with style points. But it costs a lot and generally isn't good value.

the spec looks normal at this price, however it's a Lenove Y7000,very nice build and design which you can't see on website.

  • I would wait or grab something like this
    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/ASUS-TUF-FX505DV-AL014T-15-6in-F…

With a RTX 2060 even the processor is just 4 cores and old than taht one the RTX2060 make all the diference also if he will play games the high refresh rate of 120Mhz, he will be thank you.

    60Hz and 250nits display…yeah nah

  • I had a bad experience with Lenovo Legion.
I bought the Y540 with all the plus for $2k+ and guess what? 2h after unboxing it, the graphic card died —'
So pissed after waiting for almost a month to de delivered and not being able to use it, play on it, etc.

Before buying the Legion line, read the reviews. I only read after I had that problem and hly fuc, so many hardware problems here and there with the Legions.

I will never invest in a Lenovo gaming laptop again. I bought a cheap one to use for work, study, and I will build a gaming desktop which is way cheaper and allow you to upgrade as the time pass by. Laptop you just cannot, upgrade memory, SSD, processor "maybe". Everything else cannot be upgraded.

    • they can be used from entry level games to extreme gaming

Care to explain? That means all 3 of them would need to be considered extreme gaming laptops.

      • It's not that hard to figure out what he/she meant… Although I don't understand what "extreme gaming" means in this context because a GTX1660Ti is not extreme by any means.
