yes, usually. outer worlds has been available to pre-download for around 10 days

  • Yeah I'll give it a go for $1. :)

  • Do you get to keep these games, or are you just renting them while you maintain your subscription?

    • +2

Have access to them as long your subscription is active. It's basically netflix for games.

Well, looks like a good deal but not really appealing to me as someone who likes to own my games. Now cue someone telling me I don't 'own' Steam games…

        • +1

I think it's more just about playing the games. Half the games on game pass I'd never buy individually, but if I can play them for next to nothing, it's good enough for me.

        • It's hard to go wrong for $5/month. Even 12 months is $60 which is still less than the full price of 1 game, and there are plenty of other good games on GP.
And if you really want to be a cheapskate, you can use Microsoft Rewards points to get free months (reasonably easy to get $5 worth of points each month).

    • Nope, hence why I'm tempted to not take this deal.

Can I still play games after they leave Game Pass?
Games you install using Xbox Game Pass remain playable once they’ve left the Game Pass catalog only when you buy them—and you get a hefty discount when you buy games as an Xbox Game Pass subscriber.

When you buy games at a discount, those games are yours to keep. Similarly, any add-ons you buy are yours to keep, whether you buy the base game or not.

If they remove the game after a month, I probably wouldn't be able to finish it and will be forced to pay. Deals probably good for those who have the time to play more than a few hours a day.

They're unlikely to remove games from Xbox studios from Game Pass in a month.

Forza Horizon 4 is still there a year later.

Even third party titles stay on there for months.

  • I get the day one commitment from Microsoft re launching their studios on game pass. Wondering though how long they commit to having them in there?

  • Edit: New users can currently join for $1.

    new users of what?

    • Just tried it, seems like $1 for the first month then $4.95 per month after that (PC)

  • cant wait.

  • I have used my $1 month game pass and the deal for the Gold+online that was here a while back and now still have 3 for 1 offer when I checked my Game Pass page on Xbox.

Pay $10.95 for 3 months. 1 month was also $10.95 but you had to click on that and select 3 months option.

  • Thank you! This is an awesome deal

  • Well looks like Im trying gamepass for a bit.

  • Nice! I wanted to get this game but this seems like a good deal. Can I use XBOX cards (type available from 7-11, coles, woolies etc)to fund the account or just paypal or cc?

  • Twice now I've had the download reach over 95% only to halt with a Windows Store error, only for it to then restart at zero.

I'm stuck on a NBN 25Mbps connection atm… WTF does Microsoft have to make it so painful? :(

  • Bah I signed up for GamePass only to realise it doesn't work on Windows 7.
Looks like it's time to upgrade.

    • +1

Don't pay for the upgrade, there are still ways to get it legally for free. If you would like the link the a guide let me know:)

      • Thanks for the heads up - will check Google tonight.

  • So star wars for cheap and now the outer worlds for next ot nothing, thanks op!
