  This seems to be the base game for the price to be justifiably low (could be wrong).

  If that's true then I'd recommend not getting this as you start with zero operators (the game has like 8 base operators aka characters/heroes I think) and have to grind out and earn in-game currency to unlock them. At least spend a bit more (like $10 or less I think) for the next package and you'll unlock some operators (I think it's the 8 base operators) which would have otherwise taken you 20 hours to unlock if playing the game.

    This is incorrect. There are 20 base game operators, and the grind to get them was only with the starter edition, which was removed. This price is well worth it for what you get, which is relatively easy access to 20 operators.
    If you want the other operators, you either have to grind for a bit or you can buy them. The game is incredibly fun though so the grind is not an issue.

      I'm glad to be corrected. I mistakingly bought the starter edition like a month ago so good to hear that it's been removed. If I knew about the zero operators then I would have paid a bit more for the standard game with 20 operators. I think I got the number 8 because that's the number of year 1 operators that were released.

        Starter Edition was discontinued back in February

        The starter edition has been replaced with a new base version improves the former Starter Edition progression system, which converts unlocking Operators to the original base game rate – saving players up to 150 hours of gameplay to get the Operators of their choice.

        For our active community, all current Starter Edition owners will be granted an automatic upgrade to the new base game transforming your experience of Rainbow Six Siege. Starter Edition players will now unlock Operators at a normal pace, following the original game’s Renown cost. All progression and content previously unlocked will be carried over.

      get anything that is deluxe and up as standard has no operators and you need to grind in-game currency.
