Kogan Shipped a Secondhand Xbox Wireless Controller to Me

This is the first time I shop on Kogan. I bought an Xbox wireless controller through this deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/491260

I received the item today and the box is re-sealed. There is another seal on top of the original seal (The original seal is broken).

Also, there is an unremovable dirt mark (2mm) between button Y and B.

This item was sold as a new item while obviously someone used it. But the product description says “Please make your selection carefully as we are unable to accept this product for refund or exchange if you simply change your mind or if you made an incorrect purchase”

What shall I do next?

What do you want to do?
I would probably play x-box if it wasn’t a gift.

    contact kogan

I expected op to say 'I tried asking Kogan but they wouldn't do anything"

I expected far too much apparently

    ozbargain helpline says…….

What did Kogan say when you contacted them?

Ahhh good ol kogan. So many dodgy stories.

    contact kogan, get a replacement

Hope Kogan send you a new one. I guess it's one of those deals where it was too good to be true :(

  • Take a picture of the box and don’t open it.

That strategy only works if they were superman.

      unremoveable dirt mark between buttons…

As most mere mortals would only find this out after they opened the box 🙂

  • Like we have duplicate check test prior to posting a deal. Probably, need to have similar for forum posts.
Does your question relates to a supplier. Have you contacted the supplier? OzB helpline will be best able to assist with your inquiries if we know what did the supplier say.

    The thread is dumb.

  • What shall I do next?

Take at a lesson and don’t buy from Kogan.

  • Not sure why you're putting your issue/return reason under "change of mind" when is not. Understand what classifies as "change of mind".

    What shall I do next?

Whatever you want to do (apart from just accepting it) whether you want a return, refund, open a claim with ACCC fair trading VCAT, FBI, they all require you have to have made contact with the business first, to try and address the issue. This isn't just with kogan, but anything.

"This item was sold as a new item…"

So 'goods not as described' then.

  • Could it be a refurbished controller?

    Same issue here.

    • Exactly the same situation I met

  • Try jif to remove the mark. As long as it's not a scratch, I find jif works wonders to remove dirt and other marks on controllers. It's much better than soap or detergent.
