    I managed to get another month free by cancelling the recurring payment and then redeeming the key from Alienware. It'll ask to turn back on recurring payment for a free month sub. Just signed up this week so 3 month for $1.

    So I got another 2 months added my account by adding via the Xbox Beta app, when I entered it a toggle appeared that said "activate reoccurring payments to receive 1 month extra free" or something similar, I did then I went in and canceled the payments. All good, thanks for the free 2 months.

    For the uninitiated and just recently back into PC gaming after a 10 year hiatus (new gaming laptop just arrived), can someone please give me a brief overview of what this is? From a google search it seems like it is a launcher like Steam, but includes access to games without having to purchase individually?

      It's like Netflix for games. This one is for PC. There is another type which is just called Game Pass; thats primarily geared towards Xbox one console. Game selections for both are different as Xbox One Game Pass has more games but the PC games selection is gradually catching up. There is another type called Game Pass Ultimate which includes both types of game passes (Xbox One and PC) as well as Xbox Gold subscription, which allows a few free games each month that sometimes aren't part of game pass. Gold sub is good for the old Xbox 360 consoles because that allows you to keep using the game even after subscription expiry but the same doesn't apply for Xbox One as the Game acquired free through Gold stop working until Gold sub is reactivated (effectively like Game Pass)

      You probably would be better off going after the weekly free Epic Game posts on OzB. Some really good PC games given away for free in the past several weeks so you don't have to pay anything (no sub). It's a regular thing.

    I can't get it to work.

    Unfortunately, a key could not be assigned to you. This can occur for one of several reasons, including:

    1) We've ran out of keys before we could assign one to you while you were in the queue.
    2) You are in a country or region that is not eligible to receive a key.
    3) A key has already been assigned to you.
