  • How's this compare to the original 305?

    • “The most noticeable difference between JBL 305P and JBL LSR305 is the new glossy look on the front around the tweeter of JBL 305P MKII. There is not much contrast with its sizes and weight because it is almost the same.

Apart from the difference in the look, another factor the separates the two speakers is the new Boundary EQ settings, which will help restore the neutrality in the low-frequency area.
Another difference between the two products is the use of ferro-fluid damping on JBL 305P MKII transducers. Although the two speakers possess high-quality transducers, these ferro-fluid damping technology is worthwhile for a more powerful transient response.
Upon closer inspection of the specifications, both speakers have almost the same specifications with just little modifications. The weight, dimensions, low-frequency trim control, max peak sound pressure level, and frequency range don’t differ very much.

Furthermore, the auto-off function is a new addition to the JBL MKII. It may hold a decisive factor for those who favor having this feature. Other than that, there is no other major difference between the two speakers.”

      The changes are very minor.
      ‘Boundary EQ’ basically changes the LF adjustment (-2, 0, 2dB) to -4, -2, 0dB.
Other than that and ‘auto-off’ function, the specifications are identical.
The new ‘shiny’ finish also makes the new model look cheap & ‘for consumers’.

  • I have the original pair and love them

    • Thanks for sharing.

    • I know people on the Audiophile subreddit go nuts for the originals, maybe just audiophiles in general. They must be pretty damn good.

  • How woudl these compare with rokit 6's?

    • Not impressed with the rokits in general. I compared the 8" rokits. Jbls and Yamaha hs8s and the jbls were a clear winner. I believe results for smaller models would be similar. Store DJ or djcity should be able to AB them for you.

    • I recommend listening to both in-store. Code ends today.

      • +1

Store closed today and promotion ends today! Ahhh. Just about to sell my rokit 6's gen 3 and get these. Bit I'm doing it without a test which is risky
