    We have 2 identical cars … one running shell 15-40 and the other has had Magnatec 10-40.
    The Magnatec is noticeably better!
    Can't get better recommendation than that :-)

      What is the basis of your comment Magnatec is better? Have you had your oil analysed or is this a gut feel assessment?

        we don't know car it is

        if it's two bomby old Falcons or Commodores that run on crap well its irrelevant

        Magnatec is a triumph of advertising… it's a medium grade dino oil of the same standard of non synthetic Helix

        it's neither good nor bad but they've tricked people into thinking $30 Magnatec is actually worth it

        may as well get a good semi synth for not much more

        most of the new high compression DOHC 4V cars are better off with a decent semi synth or better rather than plain mineral oil like Magnatec

        there's an old saying… Magnatec is a great oil… for Magnas!

    So basically I'm comparing Repco's Shell HX7 (Save 30%) - 15W-50 SL/CF 5L $22.99, save $10 to Supercheap's Castrol Magnatec (Save 25%)• 5L• 10W-40 • API SM/CF - $25.70. They are both semi-synthetic.
