Had no idea Billy Guyatts was still a thing

    • "A trusted name for decades in the electrical appliance retail market, operating in Victoria from the mid to late 1900’s, consisting of up to 40 superstores. BillyGuyatts was famous for supplying top products at the cheapest prices and great customer service.

Established again in 2010 as an online store only BillyGuyatts carries on its tradition of offering tops brands and the cheapest price with excellent customer service. Owned by brothers George and Mark Caval who have over 50 years retail experience between BillyGuyatts is now delivering to not only Victoria but anywhere in Australia."

      • Argh right, that makes sense then. I remember they used to be everywhere growing up, had no idea they were exclusive to Victoria.

        • and they used to have “ stan cash the tin shed cowboy” stan cash also still around.

I have the older version of this without the grinder included. Does a brilliant job only struggles with very fine ground coffee.

Had this machine since beginning of this year. Been making coffees daily and it hasn't missed a beat.

  • How does it compare to a Breville BES870?

    • +7

The BES870's pressure gauge is the big differentiating factor IMO as it acts as a visual guide to dialing in the correct grind size and tamp pressure. Myer's Ebay 20% off deal brings the BES870 down to $543 (there may be better deals than that though). The Sunbeam has a 58mm Café-size Group Head as compared to the 54mm on the BES870 - the larger group head should allow for a better distribution of coffee grind. The BES 870 also comes in 3 colors to choose from (Cherry, Black and SS) - the Sunbeam doesn't.

Damn shame the BES920 isn't $632 now, absolutely destroys most machines

i got the bes920 when it hit that price, very happy with it, it replaced my sunbeam em7000 dual thermoblock which also made great coffee and textured milk…… wasn’t broken but i thought it might make better coffee, both about the same with the right grind.
