I got one of these from Groupon once. Bill was over $200-$300. Obviously they found issue in a relatively new car.

Always click into a deal like this and read the comments then have a chuckle.

Why would anyone think that they can drive into the garage prepaid 55 dollars which Groupon takes a relatively big cut and can still drive away the car fully serviced with all the items on the list is beyond me. Engine oil and filter already cost at least $30-40 for not even very decent ones.

A good mechanic do not need this sort of deals to drum up business as they will always have jobs. It doesn't mean they cannot fit in a time for getting your car serviced though if you call them to prearrange a time.

      This man has it ^^^

Never ever take up these 'offers'.

I have a mate of mine who does the service for me. He's good in that he wants to only charge me what it costs him (ie. he makes no money). It comes to something like $160-$200. With three employees rent electricity tools lifts insurance supplies water licenses….

I'm not comfortable with this so I ask him to charge more like what a normal customer pays.

You have to prebook. A good mechanic has people booked solid.

  • Ouch, they attached the "free" pink slip gotcha with the deal.

btw. a good alignment on a single axle is something like $75-$100

and I would pay this given that I know the people doing the job do it correctly

if you're aligning a car and you pay $100 for both axles and its done badly then it hasnt been done at all has it?

you're just wasting your time and money

Careful with some of these Groupon deals. My co-worker who got the $49 oil & filter service deal told me he left his umbrella in the car and rushed back and saw a young apprentice polishing up a long row of old oil filters with WD-40 and a rag ready to be put back in.
