Can i use this to scare off the multiple murder of crows my d!ck head neighbour is feeding?

    • +5

I reckon you might have thousands of neighbourhood cats all converge on your place instead.

That might help with the crow problem too?

    • I've actually been contemplating a laser bird deterrent. It is essentially a robust and refined version of this plus a motion sensor. Only problem is it costs $10k.

If you're curious, just google laser bird/possum deterrent.

I have a little orchard and as much as I love the vast variety of wildlife in my garden, a man's gotta eat.

Just get a few $2 laser pointers from ebay and tape them onto a couple of DC motors from Jaycar. Total cost around $10…

        • It works on the principle that the laser emulates an approaching object.

The laser needs to look as if it is moving towards the target. Not a $10 project.

Not for Indian Myna birds. Any sign of a laser and they're off…

            • @jv: If only it was one species of bird. If only it was just birds.

              There's also possums and wabbits.

      • Will look into, seriously the neighbours freaking crazy. Council said its a state problem, state says its a council neighbour problem. If I killed one they would both be all over me like a fat kid on a smarty.

I have a decent laser now but it is only really effective at dawn or dusk and requires me running around at 5am from one end of the house to the other lasering them, 5 mins later they are back.

I need long term, constant, effective solutions… :D

Yeah. Neighbours are the hardest pest to manage.

Laser?? Mmm. Is that not safe to look at?

    • +1

      Its a weak class 3.

You dont want to tape your face to the front of it, but looking at the beam, or even having it shine in your eye at a distance as it passes is a non event.

Can i program what it shows? I'd love to passive-aggressively tell my noisy neighbor to EAD when he starts fighting with his GF

Do these ‘solar lasers’ have a built in battery to store charge ?
I mean, it has to be, otherwise how would they work at night ?
But description on Bunnings doesn’t say anything about storage battery

Picked up a set of these. Awesome. Scared of injuring yourself with lasers ? Maybe you shouldn't own any electrical goods.
